A method for diagnosing malignant tumors of prostate provides for transrectal echography. The parenchyma of prostate is analyzed with the aid of sonoelastography of the shear wave allowing for the assessment of the tissue stiffness in the pathologic focus. The following features are evident: the absence of the color signal in the periphery of the area of interest with marginal color signal of low stiffness as characteristic feature of invasive growth ("bitten apple" pattern) or the absence of the color signal in the center of the area of interest with color signal of low stiffness as characteristic feature of invasive growth ("black hole" pattern).
