Abstract

The invention relates to the field of non-ferrous metallurgy. A process for preparation of alumina consists in mixing bauxite with the part of spillage alkaline-aluminate solution and lixiviation thereof in two stages, at the first stage lixiviation of obtained suspension at the temperature of 95-110 DEGREE C and concentration of caustic alkali of 200-260 g/l, with dosing bauxite by 20-70 % higher as compared with amount of bauxite, necessary for obtaining equilibrium caustic module in available conditions of lixiviation, separation of sludge from aluminate solution, mixing sludge with bauxite and remaining part of recycle solution, and lixiviation of obtained suspension at the temperature of 150-250 DEGREE C and concentration of caustic alkali of 160-220 g/l at the second stage with dosing recycle solution, providing obtaining caustic module in final aluminate solution of 0.03-0.1 unitshigher its equilibrium level in available conditions of lixiviation, separation of sludge from aluminate solution and washing thereof, dissolution of aluminate solution with obtaining aluminium hydroxide and mother liquor, evaporation of mother liquor with obtaining spillage alkaline-aluminate solution. The invention allows to increase efficiency of Bayer method.
