Abstract
A method for producing wire electrode on the base of copper or its alloy with zinc includes application on the wire of a layer of zinc, cadmium or antimony. For the purpose of decreasing wear at the spark erosion cutting the wire electrode is subject to thermal treatment in the atmosphere of nitrogen, argon or hydrogen under 700-850 oC during 0.096-0.3 min with subsequent cooling to 30-80 oC during 0.02-0.2 min.
