Abstract

A method for detection and estimation of oxidative stress in ejaculate spermatozoids includes microscopic evaluation of dyeing in reaction of binding and reduction of nitro-blue tetrazolium to deposits of diformazan of dark-blue color under effect of active forms of oxygen at oxidative stress. One determines in dyed preparations of ejaculate percent content of diformazan-positive spermatozoids. Increase of percentage of diformazan-positive spermatozoids that include small, large and fine dark-blue deposits of reduced diformazan and occupy more than 50 % of cytoplasm of spermatozoid shows number of spermatozoids that are in condition of oxidative stress.
