A method for calculation of thermoelectric Q-factor for a thermal battery wedged between a heater and a cooler comprises supplying thermal fluxes to the thermal battery being in shorted and open states. Short-circuit mode is set, for this heat flux, electromotive force are measured in the moment of electric circuit interruption. Open mode for the electric battery is set, the thermal battery electromotive force is set the same as in short-circuit mode. Temperature of hot and cold junctions is regulated using the cooler in such a manner that they are the same as in shorted mode. The thermal flux is measured in the open mode. According to an analytic dependence thermoelectric Q-factor of the thermal battery is measured.
