Description
The invention relates to the technology of inorganic substances and the method of obtaining copper (II) oxide by electrochemical oxidation, used as a pigment, fungicide, anti-rot coating or active mass of a positive electrode in the production of galvanic cells.
The closest analogue of the invention - the method of obtaining copper oxide (II) is Japanese patent Me 40-21970 (МПК С 01 23/02, 1965), according to which a two-component solution consisting of 90g/l of sodium sulfate and 15g/l of sodium nitrate at a current density of 2000-3000A/m: in the presence of a copper anode.
The features of the invention, which coincide with the essential features of the closest analogue, are the presence of electrochemical oxidation in the presence of a copper anode in the method of obtaining copper (II) oxide.
The technical result of the invention is an increase in the flexibility of electrochemical oxidation in the production of copper (II) oxide and an increase in the anodic yield of copper in terms of current.
Disadvantages of the closest analogue, which prevent the achievement of a technical result, are the difficulty of maintenance of the electrolyte due to the complexity of analytical control and correction of the reversible electrolyte due to the use of a two-component electrolyte solution in the process of electrochemical oxidation. Moreover, conducting electrochemical oxidation at high current densities reduces the anodic output of copper by current to 70 percent or more.
(1).The invention is based on the task of improving the method of obtaining copper oxide (1).
The problem is solved by the fact that in the method of obtaining copper oxide, which includes the electrochemical oxidation of copper in the presence of a copper anode, according to the invention, a solution of alkali metal nitrate with a mass concentration of 5 - 1595 is used as an electrolyte, and electrochemical oxidation is carried out at a current density of 500 - 1000A/m According to the invention, a solution of sodium nitrate is used as a solution of alkali metal nitrate. According to the invention, a solution of potassium nitrate is used as a solution of alkali metal nitrate.
There is such a causal relationship between the set of essential features of the invention and the achieved technical result. In the invention - an electrochemical method for obtaining copper oxide, a solution of alkali metal nitrate with a mass concentration of 5 - 1595 at a current density of 500 - 1000A/m? is used as an electrolyte. At a current density of 150 - 460A/m? copper hydroxide is obtained. At a current density higher than 1000A/m? the copper anode current decreases to 7095 (Table). High concentrations of salt (5 - 15950) contribute not only to electrochemical, but also to chemical oxidation of copper, which is a positive factor that contributes to increasing the productivity of the process. So, at a current density of 665A/m?, increasing the concentration of nitric acid salt in the solution to 1090 increases the yield of copper by current to 100.095. At concentrations below 595, the voltage on the bath increases, which leads to an increase in the specific consumption of electricity per unit mass of the product. Increasing the concentration of salt in the solution above 15956 is undesirable, as it leads to excessive consumption of the reagent. The choice of potassium and sodium nitrate is due to the fact that these salts are well soluble and available.
The method is carried out as follows. Electrochemical oxidation of copper anodes is carried out by supplying a constant electric current (500 - 1000A/m7) in ordinary electrolyzers made of steel, titanium or any other material inert in an alkaline environment with or without circulation of the electrolyte, without forced cooling of the solution. Copper scrap is used as anode and cathode. Potassium or sodium nitrate solutions are used as an electrolyte. The results of the method of obtaining copper oxide by electrochemical oxidation in the presence of a copper anode are given in the Table. The electrolyte used in the method is sodium nitrate.

Thus, the use of an alkali metal nitrate solution with a mass concentration of 5 - 1595 in the electrochemical method of obtaining copper (II) oxide allows to increase the anodic output of copper by current by 30 percent or more compared to the nearest analogue.
