A method for neutralization of exhaust gases through supply of secondary air to exhaust gases, heating of catalyst at start of engine, heating of secondary air before mixing with exhaust gases. The neutralization process is divided to two stages. At first stage reactions of thermal decomposition and hydrocarbon oxidation are carried out, and reactions as result of which content of carbon oxide in exhaust gases is increased. At second stage one supplies heated secondary air to exhaust gases, and reactions of carbon, carbon oxide and other hydrocarbons oxidation take place to carbon dioxide and water. A device for neutralization of exhaust gases consists of cylindrical body with inlet and outlet nozzles and catalyst and electric heater placed inside the body.
