Abstract
Device for the treatment of Parkinson's disease resistant to drug therapy belongs to the group of surgical implants. It includes: a pulse generator (similar to a pacemaker), which is connected by flexible wires to platinum electrodes, a pulse generator is sutured subcutaneously in the sternum, and the electrodes are implanted into deep brain structures (areas of a pale ball - palidum or subthalamic), the system is installed in 2 stages: during the first stage under local or general anesthesia, electrodes are subcutaneously implanted, the second stage under general anesthesia is stimulated with an electrical stimulator in the sternum, work usefulness stimulator are checked during surgery and postoperative hospital stay takes usually a few days stimulator is programmed individually, taking into account the peculiarity of each patient.
