Abstract

The invention relates to the field of metallurgy. A metal reservoir of a tundish comprises a container, which consists of a bottom and a side wall, whose free edge forms an opening, wherein the container is provided with an internal volume defined by the following relationship:,  where V- internal volume of the container, m; H- height of the tundish, m; d– diameter of the nozzle opening, m; k - dimensionless coefficient that takes into account the influence of physicochemical properties of the process on the strength characteristics of the container material equal to 0.5-2.0, wherein the bottom of the container is made in such a manner that the ratio of maximum linear dimension of the cross section, which lies in a horizontal plane, to the minimum linear dimension of the cross section, which lies in the same plane, is 1.2. Use of the disclosed metal reservoir of tundish reduces the number of nonmetallic inclusions in the molten metal.
