Abstract

A method for producing electrodes on the basis of tungsten carbide powder for the cathodic evolution of hydrogen from water by electrolysis of an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid. A mixture of tungsten carbide powder (90 wt. %) and silver (10 wt. %), which is mixed with polyvinyl alcohol, is applied onto a nickel mesh, after that it is dried at 200 °C and sintered at 1000 °C under an argon atmosphere.
