Abstract

The invention relates to the area of electrophysical and electrochemical machining, namely to electroerosion alloying (ECA) and ion nitriding (IN), and can be used for strengthening surface of parts being subject to thermal treatment. Disclosed is a method for strengthening surface of steel parts being subject to thermal treatment including an operation of electroerosion alloying, when the part being subject to thermal treatment is subject to electroerosion alloying with ion nitriding, at that ion nitriding is performed before or after the operation of electroerosion alloying within the time sufficient to saturation of metal with nitrogen on the depth of thermal influence zone. The enhanced performance of the strengthened layer by the ECA method due to elimination of so called dip of hardness and raising hardness in the transition zone is achieved.
