Abstract

An accelerated method for assessing features of carrot specimens, which reduce the time limits and number of tests, including sowing on the field and obtaining a rosette of leaves and a tuberous root, in which the features as follows are analyzed (9 features): height of a rosette of leaves, weight of a tuberous root, output of standard tuberous roots and those of a larger diameter, and in laboratory conditions the analysis for content in the roots of vitamins C and β-carotene, total sugars, monosaccharides and dry matter which are closely related to 17 criteria: in particular the presence of an increase in tuberos roots of protein (N x 6.25), folic acid, sucrose, monosaccharides, total sugar, β-carotene, diameter of a rosette of leaves, stem length, yield of standard, output of standard, offtype tuberous roots, their yield, total and commercial, and weight of a tuberous root, the assessment of which is not carried out and characterization of the sample according to 26 features is provided.
