Abstract

A four-piece projection lens system and the projection apparatus thereof are disclosed. The projection apparatus includes a light source, a light valve and a four-piece projection lens system. The light source is functional to emit a light beam to the light valve. The light valve then transmits the light beam from the light source into a image beam. The image beam then is projected on a screen by the four-piece projection lens system. The four-piece projection lens system in order from the light valve to the screen includes: a first lens element with positive refractive power, a second lens element with negative refractive power, a third lens element with positive refractive power, a fourth lens element with positive refractive power, satisfied the condition of 0.79 < BFL/TL < 0.99. Where, BFL is the back focal length of the four-piece projection lens system, TL is the total length from the screen side of the first lens element to the light valve side of the fourth lens element on the optical axis.
