Abstract

A payment method includes the following steps. An acquiring server receives an acquiring data and a biological feature authentication data. A biological feature server authenticates user identification according to the biological feature authentication data. When the biological feature server determines that the biological feature authentication data matches the user identification, the biological feature server determines whether a payment institution of a payment account is the same with an acquiring institution. When the biological feature server determines that the payment institution is different from the acquiring institution, a blockchain server transmits a payment message to another blockchain server of the acquiring institution to require the payment account to pay the payment of the acquiring data.

Description

This case relates to a payment method, and in particular to a decentralized biometric payment method.

For various current financial payment activities, consumers must bring cash, physical credit cards or visa cards to pay, or carry electronic devices to make mobile payments. However, if the user forgets to bring cash, physical cards, electronic devices, or the power supply of the electronic devices runs out, or there is insufficient cash, no payment will be made at all. This is quite inconvenient for consumers in terms of payment.

Please refer to Figure 1, which illustrates a block diagram of a decentralized biometric payment system 100 according to some embodiments of the present case. The decentralized biometric payment system 100 will establish the association between the user's biometric information and the payment account in advance. When the user subsequently purchases goods or services in the store, he does not need to carry any cards or show payment barcodes for payment. Through the medium, users only need to use their own biometric information to complete the payment.

140。In some embodiments, the decentralized biometric payment system 100 includes an acquiring server 110, a biometric server 120, an accounting server 130, and a blockchain server 140. The acquiring server 110 is coupled to the biometric server 120 . The biometric server 120 is coupled to the accounting server 130 and the blockchain server 140 .

In some embodiments, the biometric server 120 of the decentralized biometric payment system 100 is communicatively coupled to the electronic device 200 . The electronic device 200 may be a portable electronic device, a mobile phone, a tablet computer, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a wearable device, a notebook computer, etc., and is equipped with a processor and/or a storage device. An electronic device that can execute applications installed on it and/or in the cloud.

In order to facilitate the explanation of the binding method between the user's biometric information and the payment account, please refer to Figure 1 and Figure 2 below. Figure 2 illustrates a flow chart of a method for binding biometric information according to some embodiments of this case. The binding method is executed by the electronic device 200 and the decentralized biometric payment system 100 . The electronic device 200 may be installed with an application program executable by a financial institution for executing financial services. For example, the electronic device 200 is installed with a mobile banking application of China South Bank, allowing the user to operate the application on the electronic device 200 to perform binding of biometric information. Biometric information can be fingerprint (or finger vein) characteristics, eye iris characteristics, retinal characteristics, facial characteristics, palm print (or palm vein) characteristics, voice characteristics, etc. Any biometric characteristics fall within the scope of this case and can be applied to this case full text.

It is worth mentioning that, in order to simplify the content of the manual, the following biometric information uses fingerprints as examples.

As shown in Figure 2, in step S210, the user's biometric information is captured through the electronic device 200. In some embodiments, the user can operate an application program of the electronic device 200 to execute the biometric binding process.

In step S220, the biometric information and payment account associated with the user's identity are sent to the biometric server 120 through the electronic device 200. In some embodiments, the payment account refers to an account held by the user at a financial institution. For example, the payment account can be but is not limited to the user's bank account, credit card account, etc. Any method that can be used for payment falls within the scope of this case.

In step S230, the biometric server 120 associates and binds the biometric information and the payment account. In some embodiments, the biometric server 120 stores account information of all users, and after the association binding is established, the database of the biometric server 120 has a correlation between the account information and the biometric information. Since biometric information is highly personal and unique, corresponding biometric information can be used to verify whether it is the user himself.

In some embodiments, in the binding information of the biometric server 120, each user may have accounts with one or more financial institutions as payment accounts. For example, the biometric server 120 stores the user's general account at South China Bank and Citibank's credit card, both of which can be used as payment accounts. On the other hand, users can also have accounts with multiple payment types at one or more financial institutions. For example, the biometric server 120 stores the user's general account and two credit cards at South China Bank, the general account at First Bank, and the credit card at Cathay Bank. This case does not limit the payment methods stored in the biometric server 120 for bound payment.

Please refer to Figure 1 again. The decentralized biometric payment system 100 is communicatively coupled to the acquiring device 300 . The checkout device 300 may be an instant point-of-sale device installed in a store, or a cashier device in any form.

In some embodiments, the acquiring device 300 includes a capture module 310 and a payment confirmation module 320. The capture module 310 is used to read the user's biometric verification information. The payment confirmation module 320 is used to generate payment information of acquiring data. In some embodiments, the capture module 310 may be a fingerprint (or finger vein) feature capture module, an iris feature capture module, a retina feature capture module, a facial feature capture module, a palm print (or Palm vein) feature extraction module, sound feature extraction module, etc. For example, when a user wants to pay in a store, he presses his finger on the fingerprint feature capturing module, and the acquiring device 300 can obtain the fingerprint feature. On the other hand, when a user wants to check out in a store, the store can create payment information (such as a list of purchased goods or services and a list of prices) in the payment device 300 and generate a payment message. The payment confirmation module 320 may be a touch (screen) module and/or a mechanical button for receiving payment instructions from the user. For example, after the acquiring device 300 obtains the fingerprint characteristics and passes the identity verification, the acquiring device 300 may prompt on the display screen (not shown) or the speaker (not shown) whether to confirm the payment. Users can issue confirmation payment instructions through touch (screen) modules and/or mechanical buttons. In this way, the payment for the acquiring information will be directly deducted from the payment account to complete the payment process.

110。In some embodiments, the acquiring server 110 receives an acquiring data and biometric verification information, wherein the acquiring server 110 is associated with the acquiring financial institution. For example, when a user performs consumption behavior in a store, the acquiring device 300 uploads the user's fingerprint and purchasing data to the acquiring server 110 .

In some embodiments, the acquiring server 110 is associated with an acquiring financial institution. For example, the decentralized biometric payment system 100 is installed in a financial institution, such as South China Bank. The acquiring server 110 is provided by the same financial institution (such as South China Bank). If the user makes subsequent payments and the payment financial institution bound to them is different from the acquiring financial institution, the payment information needs to be forwarded to other financial institutions. This content will be explained in the following paragraphs. It is worth mentioning that the acquiring device 300 and the decentralized biometric payment system 100 belong to the same financial institution. In other words, if the decentralized biometric payment system 100 is a system of Hua Nan Bank, the connected acquiring device 300 is also provided by Hua Nan Bank to maintain information security and simplify the overall system architecture.

In some embodiments, the biometric server 120 verifies the user identity of the acquiring data based on the biometric verification information. For example, the biometric server 120 searches and compares the received biometric verification information with the user's biometric information stored in the database. The database refers to the data created when the aforementioned user binds biometric information and payment account.

In some embodiments, the accounting server 130 is used to perform debits of payment from the acquiring data. For example, when the biometric server 120 determines that the acquiring financial institution is the same as the paying financial institution, the biometric server 120 sends a payment message to the accounting server 130 . In this way, the accounting server 130 performs the deduction.

In some embodiments, the blockchain server 140 is used to exchange messages with another blockchain server (not shown). For example, the blockchain server 140 is built by South China Bank, and another blockchain server (not shown) is built by First Bank. When the acquiring financial institution to which the acquiring device 300 installed in the store belongs is Hua Nan Bank, and the payment financial institution bound by the user is First Bank, the account server 130 of Hua Nan Bank cannot perform the deduction at this time. , instead, the payment information must be forwarded to the blockchain server of First Bank through the blockchain server 140 of South China Bank, and then the account server of First Bank can deduct the payment.

As mentioned above, the decentralized biometric payment system 100 is established by a financial institution, so every financial institution can implement the decentralized biometric payment system 100 of this case. On the other hand, the blockchain server in this case provides a way for financial institutions to exchange data. In other words, all financial institutions can connect to the system with one or more financial institutions, and can join the payment system to form a decentralized architecture without a central system for the exchange of financial information.

To facilitate the explanation of how users make payments through biometric information, please refer to Figure 1 and Figure 3 below. Figure 3 illustrates a flow chart of a payment method suitable for the decentralized biometric payment system 100 according to some embodiments of the present case.

In step S305, the acquiring server 110 receives the biometric verification information and acquiring data from the acquiring device 300. The acquiring server 110 is associated with the acquiring financial institution.

S315。In step S310, the biometric server 120 determines whether the biometric verification information matches a user's identity. In some embodiments, the biometric server 120 searches and compares the received biometric verification information with the user's biometric information stored in the database to obtain a payment account that can pay the money. If it is determined that the biometric verification information matches a user's identity, step S315 is executed.

S310。In step S315, it is determined whether the payment financial institution bound to the payment account is the same as the acquiring financial institution. In some embodiments, if the acquiring financial institution is Hua Nan Bank and the paying financial institution is First Bank, it means that the payment cannot be made in the decentralized biometric payment system 100 of Hua Nan Bank. At this time, step S320 is executed. It is worth mentioning that step S310 and step S315 can also be executed in an exchanged order, for example, step S315 is executed first, and then step S310 is executed.

In step S320, the blockchain server 140 sends a payment message to the paying financial institution to request payment for the acquiring data. For example, the blockchain server 140 of South China Bank communicates with the blockchain server (not shown) of First Bank. The blockchain server 140 of South China Bank sends the payment message to the blockchain server (not shown) of First Bank, so that the account server (not shown) of First Bank can perform the deduction.

In step S325, the paying financial institution returns a debit completion message. For example, after First Bank completes the deduction, it generates a deduction completion message, and then sends the deduction completion message back to China South Bank's blockchain server through First Bank's blockchain server (not shown) 140. In this way, the payment process across financial institutions can be completed.

If in step S310, the biometric server 120 does not search for a matching user identity, which means that there is no payment account available for debit, the payment process is ended, and the decentralized biometric payment system 100 returns a deduction failure. message to the acquiring device 300, requesting the user to pay in other ways.

S330。If in step S315, the payment financial institution bound to the payment account is the same as the acquiring financial institution, step S330 is executed.

300。In step S330, the biometric server 120 sends a payment message to the accounting server 130, and the accounting server 130 performs debit of the payment for the acquiring data. For example, if the decentralized biometric payment system 100 and the acquiring device 300 both belong to the architecture supported by South China Bank, then the account server 130 of South China Bank will directly perform the deduction, and after the deduction is completed, send Once the deduction is completed, a message is sent to the acquiring device 300.

In some embodiments, the user can bind one or more payment accounts and set the debit sequence among these payment accounts. For example, if the user binds Hua Nan Bank general account deduction, First Bank credit card deduction and Citibank credit card deduction, and sets the order of deduction in order. The accounting server 130 pays the payment of the acquiring data in sequence according to the deduction order. If the payment account with the first priority cannot pay, the payment will be deducted from the payment account with the second priority.

In some embodiments, when the balance of the first-ranked payment account is insufficient to pay the entire amount of the acquiring data, the remaining balance is deducted from the second-ranked payment account. For example, if the total amount of the acquiring information is 200,000 yuan, the first payment account is a general account with 120,000 yuan in movable cash. Since there is still 80,000 yuan unpaid, the second-ranked First Bank credit card will pay the remaining 80,000 yuan at this time.

It is worth mentioning that the method of performing deductions through multiple sequential payment accounts is performed through steps S315, S320 and S325 described in Figure 3, which will not be repeated here.

To sum up, the decentralized biometric payment system 100 in this case provides that financial institutions can exchange accounting information with each other through the blockchain server without going through a central system such as a financial company. . Since the blockchain server in this case applies the characteristics of the blockchain that cannot be modified and can be independently verified, the security of the overall architecture is increased. In addition, due to the decentralized nature, financial institutions are more flexible in joining or exiting the payment system. Furthermore, when users make purchases in the store, and when they later purchase goods or services in the store, they do not need to bring any mobile devices, physical financial cards, or show payment barcodes and other payment media. Users only need to use their own Biometric information can be used to complete the payment. Compared with the existing payment mechanism, there are considerable differences and improvements. This case can take into account both convenience and security.
