Abstract

An expansion card cage is configured for the installation of a riser card and an expansion card. The expansion card cage includes a cage body and a stopper. Expansion card carrier and server enclosure

The present invention relates to an expansion card carrier and a server case, in particular to an expansion card carrier and a server case that can be disassembled and assembled without tools.

With the development and progress of science and technology, the server has been widely used in the company's line number and public units. In order for the server to meet various needs, users can optionally install expansion cards in the server to improve the performance of the server.

Generally speaking, the expansion card of the server is installed on the casing of the server through the expansion card bracket. However, at present, the expansion card is fixed to the expansion card and the expansion card holder is fixed to the server casing mostly through screw locks. Therefore, additional tools (such as screwdrivers) are required to disassemble and assemble, and the disassembly and assembly require a lot of time. a lot of time, causing inconvenience. An expansion card carrier disclosed in an embodiment of the present invention is used for being mounted on a shell of a server case, and for mounting an adapter card and an expansion card. The expansion card carrier 20 is used for installing the riser card 2 and the expansion card 3 . The expansion card carrier 20 includes a frame body 21 and a stopper 22 .

The frame body 21 includes a first side plate 211 , a second side plate 212 and a third side plate 213 . In this embodiment or other embodiments, the frame body 21 may optionally include a top plate 214 . The first side plate 211 has a folding structure 2112 . The second side plate 212 is connected to one side of the first side plate 211 . The third side plate 213 is connected to the side of the second side plate 212 away from the first side plate 211 , and the first side plate 211 and the third side plate 213 extend from the second side plate 212 in two opposite directions respectively. The first side plate 211 is used for installing the riser card 2 , and the riser card 2 is used for inserting the expansion card 3 . The third side plate 213 has an abutting surface 2131 and two pivoting portions 2132 protruding from the abutting surface 2131 , and the abutting surface 2131 is used for the expansion card 3 to abut against. The top plate 214 has an inner surface 2141 and an outer surface 2142 opposite to each other. The inner surface 2141 is used to face the riser card 2 and the expansion card 3 . The first side plate 211 , the second side plate 212 and the third side plate 213 are all connected to the inner surface 2141 of the top plate 214 .

The stopper 22 includes a plate portion 221 , two pivoting portions 222 and a flexible portion 223 . The flexible portion 223 includes an elastic arm section 2231 and an operating section 2232 which are connected to each other. The two pivoting parts 222 of the stopper 22 and one end of the elastic arm segment 2231 away from the operating segment 2232 are respectively connected to two adjacent sides of the plate part 221 . The two pivoting portions 222 of the stopper 22 are respectively pivoted to the two pivoting portions 2132 of the third side plate 213 . In this embodiment, the pivot axis P of the stopper 22 is parallel to the long axis L of the third side plate 213 . The long axis L of the third side plate 213 passes through two opposite short sides 2131 a and 2131 b of the abutting surface 2131 of the third side plate 213 . The elastic arm section 2231 of the flexible portion 223 has a blocking block 2231a, and the blocking block 2231a has a guiding inclined surface 2231b. The top plate 214 has a fixing hole 2143 , and the locking block 2231 a of the elastic arm segment 2231 is fastened to the fixing hole 2143 of the top plate 214 . By applying force to the operation section 2232 of the flexible portion 223 , the elastic arm section 2231 of the flexible portion 223 can be moved relative to the plate portion 221 , so that the locking block 2231 a is separated from the fixing hole 2143 . The operating section 2232 of the flexible portion 223 protrudes from the edge 2144 of the top plate 214 .

In this embodiment, the plate portion 221 has a first surface 2211 , a second surface 2212 and a protruding rib 2213 . The first surface 2211 is opposite to the second surface 2212 , the first surface 2211 of the plate portion 221 is used for abutting the expansion card 3 away from the abutting surface 2131 , and the ribs 2213 protrude from the second surface 2212 .

In this embodiment, the expansion card carrier 20 may further include a plurality of fasteners 23 . The clips 23 are disposed on the first side plate 211 and are separated from each other. These fasteners 23 have the same structure, so only one of the fasteners 23 will be described in detail below. The fastener 23 includes a head portion 231 , a neck portion 232 and a body portion 233 . The neck 232 is located between the head 231 and the body 233 and is connected with the head 231 and the body 233 . The body portion 233 is connected to the first side plate 211 , and the head portion 231 is spaced from the first side plate 211 . The width W3 of the body portion 233 is greater than the width W1 of the head portion 231 , and the width W1 of the head portion 231 is greater than the width W2 of the neck portion 232 . The riser card 2 has a plurality of snap holes 4 . These snap holes 4 have the same structure, so only one of them will be described below. The buckle hole 4 has a wide portion 5 and a narrow portion 6 connected together. The width W4 of the wide portion 5 is greater than the width W5 of the narrow portion 6 . The width W4 of the wide portion 5 is larger than the width W1 of the head portion 231 of the fastener 23 and smaller than the width W3 of the body portion 233 . width W5, and the width W2 of the neck portion 232 of the clip 23 is smaller than the width W5 of the narrow portion 6 . In addition, the first side plate 211 of the frame body 21 has a locking hole 2111 , and the adapter card 2 is provided with a hand screw 7 .

In this embodiment, the expansion card carrier 20 may further include a coupling member 24 , and the coupling member 24 is fixed to the first side plate 211 for a side facing away from the riser card 2 . The coupling member 24 has two engaging slots 241 (please refer to FIG. 9 first), and the two engaging slots 241 are respectively used for engaging with the two protruding blocks 131 in the coupling hole 13 of the casing 10 .

Next, the process of assembling the riser card 2 and the expansion card 3 to the expansion card carrier 20 will be described below. Please refer to FIG. 3 to FIG. 7 together, and FIG. 6 is a three-dimensional schematic diagram of the riser card of FIG. 3 installed on the first side plate. FIG. 7 is a three-dimensional schematic diagram of the expansion card of FIG. 3 installed on the riser card.

First, as shown in FIGS. 3 , 4 and 6 , align the wide portions 5 of the snap holes 4 of the riser card 2 with the heads 231 of the snap pieces 23 respectively, and then align the heads of the snap pieces 23 231 passes through the wide portions 5 of these snap holes 4 . Then, slide the riser card 2 so that the necks 232 of the buckles 23 are located at the narrow parts 6 of the buckle holes 4 respectively, and the riser card 2 is positioned on the head 231 and the body 233 of the buckles 23 between. Then, the stopper 22 is pivoted, so that the locking block 2231a of the stopper 22 is inserted into the fixing hole 2143 of the top plate 214 , and the first surface 2211 of the stopper 22 abuts against the expansion card 3 away from the third side plate 213 . The expansion card 3 is fixed to the frame body 21 by abutting one side of the surface 2131 . At this time, the operating section 2232 of the flexible portion 223 protrudes from the edge 2144 of the top plate 214 .

In this embodiment, the guide slope 2231b of the blocking block 2231a of the stopper 22 can help the blocking block 2231a to be inserted into the fixing hole 2143 of the top plate 214 .

As for the disassembly of the expansion card 3 and the riser card 2 from the expansion card carrier 20 , the operation section 2232 of the flexible portion 223 of the stopper 22 is pulled, so that the clamping block 2231 a is disengaged from the fixing hole 2143 of the top plate 214 . Then, the stopper 22 is pivoted so that the stopper 22 no longer blocks the expansion card 3 , so that the expansion card 3 can be separated from the riser card 2 . Then, loosen the hand screw 7 on the adapter card 2, and then slide the adapter card 2 so that the head 231 of the buckle 23 is aligned with the wide part 5 of the buckle hole 4, and the adapter card 2 can be separated on the expansion card carrier 20 .

In this embodiment, the neck portion 232 of the fastener 23 is connected to the first side plate 211 through the body portion 233 , but it is not limited thereto. In other embodiments, the fastener may not include a body, and the neck of the fastener may be directly connected to the first side panel. In addition, the number of the clips is not limited to a plurality. In other embodiments, the expansion card carrier may contain only one snap or no snap.

Furthermore, the arrangement of the locking holes of the first side plate is not intended to limit the present invention. In other embodiments, the locking hole of the first side plate and the hand-turned screw on the riser card may be omitted when the clip is sufficient to fix the riser card to the first side plate.

Next, the process of assembling the expansion card carrier 20 to the casing 10 will be described below. See Figures 2, 8, 9. FIG. 8 is a partial top plan view of the second side plate and the third side plate of FIG. 3 assembled with the first assembling portion and the second assembling portion of the housing, respectively. FIG. 9 is a partial perspective view of the coupling member of FIG. 3 being fixed to the coupling hole of the housing.

First, put the first side plate 211 and the third side plate 213 into the first insertion space 111 of the first assembly part 11 of the housing 10 and the second insertion space 121 of the second assembly part 12 respectively, so that the first side plate The hemming structure 2112 of the 211 is located in the guide groove 113 of the first assembling part 11 , and the abutting protrusions 122 of the second assembling part 12 abut against the protruding ribs 2213 of the stopper 22 . The expansion card carrier 20 is separated from the first assembly part 11 and the second assembly part 12 of the casing 10 .

In this embodiment, the configuration of the coupling member 24 is not intended to limit the present invention. In other embodiments, when the first assembling portion and the second assembling portion of the casing are sufficient to fix the expansion card carrier, the coupling member may be omitted.

According to the expansion card carrier and the server case disclosed in the above-mentioned embodiments, the expansion card can be extended by the stopper that can pivot relative to the third side plate against the side of the expansion card away from the abutting surface of the third side plate.
