Abstract

A hollow wall anchor includes a wall penetrating component having an externally threaded portion and a wall penetrating end portion, and a body component having a wall face engaging portion and an internally threaded portion that receives the externally threaded portion of the wall penetrating component. Rotation of the components together in a first direction for wall penetration moves both the wall penetrating component and the body component into the wall until the wall face engaging portion of the body component engages the wall to limit further rotation of the body component while the wall penetrating component continues to rotate such that interacting threads of the two components pull the wall penetrating component further into the body component. As the wall penetrating component is pulled further into the body component one or more retention arms are expanded outwardly behind a rear surface of the wall.

In the drawings and descriptions of the various anchor embodiments below, the term wallboard is generally used to refer to most common wallboards, such as gypsum board, but the anchor components are recognized as applicable to any other fragile wallboard material, such as dense cork or foam or other materials that may shatter. The term wallboard as used herein is hereby intended to broadly encompass, for example, typical gypsum board (aka plasterboard and gypsum board) or such other fragile wallboard materials.

Referring to FIGS. 1-8 , one embodiment of a hollow wall anchor 10 is shown, which includes a wall penetration member 12 and a body member 14 . In embodiments, both components are formed from a plastic material, but one or both components may alternatively be formed from other materials, such as metal. The wall penetrating member includes a male threaded inner end portion (male threaded portion 16 ) with threads 16A and a wall penetrating end portion 18 . The wall penetrating end portion 18 includes an enlarged head portion 20 and a tip 22 . The transition area 24 between the tip 22 and the enlarged head portion 20 is shaped to facilitate penetration of the wall during rotation. The male threaded portion 16 includes an inner end 26 having a tool receiving portion (eg, a hexagonal groove, a cruciform groove, a quincunx groove, or other shape) shaped to be rotatable via a tool. The inner end 26 leads to the inner channel 28, which is also threaded (thread 28A).

100。 The body member 14 has a wall engaging portion 30 at one end and an internally threaded tubular portion 32 extending therefrom. The tubular portion 32 receives the wall penetration via the threaded fit of the two parts The male thread portion 16 of the piece. The wall penetrating member 12 is movable relative to the body member between an insertion orientation of the anchor (FIGS. 1, 4, 7) and a retention orientation of the anchor (FIGS. 5, 6, 8). In the inserted orientation, a set of retaining arms 34 (three arms 34 are shown in the illustrated embodiment, but the number of arms may be one, two, or more than three) integrally formed with the body member 14 are adjacent The externally threaded portion 16 of the wall penetration member 12 is placed in close contact with each other. The retaining arm 34 may also include an internally threaded portion that interacts with the threads of the externally threaded portion 16 . Thus, in the insertion orientation, the tubular portion 32 with the collapsed retaining arms 34 has a relatively uniform shape to facilitate insertion through the opening in the wall panel, which can be created by rotating the wall penetrating member when the tip 22 engages the wall the opening. The head portion 20 is sized to create a hole in the wall that is just large enough to allow the passage of the tubular portion 32, but not so large that the wall engaging portion 30 passes therethrough. Here, the wall engaging portion 30 is formed as an annular flange with a set of ribs 36 on the rear side for biting into the wall 100 .

The free ends of the arms face the head portion 20 when the anchor is in the insertion orientation. For installation purposes, in the insertion orientation, the tool is inserted into the opening 40 at the end of the body member, and the tool line engages the tool receiving portion of the inner end 26 of the wall penetrating member. The tip 22 is positioned against the outer surface 102 of the wall 100 and the tool is rotated in a clockwise direction (viewed from the front side of the wall) for penetrating the wall together and the wall penetrating member and body member together in a clockwise direction. During such rotation, a hole is also created in the wall 100 by the force exerted by the tool towards the wall and the wall penetration member, allowing the wall penetration member 12 and the body member 14 to move into the wall 100 until the wall of the body member The engaging portion 30 engages the wall (according to FIG. 4 ) and limits further rotation of the body part 14 . In this regard, once the head portion 20 has passed the wall panel, the tubular portion can quickly slide through the resulting opening to seat the flange 30 against the wall panel, causing the ribs 36 to bite into the wall panel. Continuing to turn the tool clockwise causes the wall penetrating member 12 to continue to rotate so that the threading interaction of the wall penetrating member 12 and the body member 14 pulls the wall penetrating member further into the body member (eg, back into the wall) at the wall penetration While the member 12 is pulled further into the body member 14, the retaining arm 34 is tethered to the rear surface of the wall and expands outwardly (eg, when the head 20 is enlarged in the arm 34). move them in and push them out) to keep the hollow wall anchors inside the wall (Figure 5).

Once the anchor 10 is fully installed, the tool can be removed and then the threaded fasteners (eg, screws or bolts) can be moved into the anchor and into the inner channel 28 in order to secure the desired structure (eg, a shelf, bracket or other structure) to the wall . In particular, the inner channel 28 can also be turned into the inner channel 28 by rotating the threaded fastener clockwise. Thus, with the threaded fastener reaching the end of the inner channel 28, preventing further rotation relative to the wall penetration member 12, applying additional rotational force to the fastener will tend to rotate the wall penetration more clockwise The member 12, which tends to further lock the anchor to the wall by causing further expansion of the expansion arm 34.

Removing the anchor 10 from the wall can be accomplished by first removing any inserted tie elements. The tool can then be moved into the anchor, engaged with the inner end 26 and rotated counterclockwise. During such rotation of the tool, with some force applied towards the wall, the portion 30 of the body member 14 remains engaged with the wall and prevents rotation of the body member 14. Therefore, only the wall penetration member 12 is rotated counterclockwise, thereby moving out of the body member due to the thread interaction between the members. Finally, the wall penetration member 12 is completely separated from the body member 14 and falls into the inside of the wall. The tool can then be removed and the body member 14 pulled out of the wall, during which the arms 34 are moved back to the collapsed position during withdrawal from the wall.

228。 Referring now to Figures 9-16, another embodiment of anchor 210, which is somewhat similar to anchor 10, is shown. Anchor 210 includes wall penetration member 212 and body member 214 . The wall penetration member includes a male thread inner end portion (male thread portion 216 ) and a wall penetration end portion 218 . The wall penetrating end portion 218 includes an enlarged head portion 220 and a tip 222 . The transition region 224 between the tip 222 and the enlarged head portion 220 is shaped to facilitate wall penetration. Externally threaded portion 216 includes an inner end 226 having a tool receiving portion (eg, hex groove, cruciform groove, quincunx groove, or other shape) that is shaped to be rotated by a tool. The inner end 226 leads to an inner channel 228 which is also threaded.

The body member 214 has a wall engaging portion 230 at one end, and an internally threaded tubular portion 232 extending therefrom. Tubular portion 232 receives wall penetration via a threaded fit of the two parts Component male threaded portion 216. The wall penetrating member 212 is movable relative to the body member between an insertion orientation of the anchor (FIGS. 9, 10) and a retention orientation of the anchor (FIG. 13). In the inserted orientation, the retaining arms 234 of a set of tubular portions 232 integral with the body member 214 (six arms 234 are shown in the illustrated embodiment, but the number of arms can vary as described above) are adjacent to the wall penetration The outer threaded portion 216 of the transparent member 212 is placed in close contact with each other. Retention arm 234 may also include an internally threaded portion that interacts with the threads of externally threaded portion 216 . Thus, in the insertion orientation, the tubular portion 232 with the collapsed retaining arms 234 has a relatively uniform shape to facilitate insertion through the opening in the wall panel, which can be created by rotating the wall penetrating member when the tip 222 engages the wall the opening. The head portion 220 is sized to create a hole in the wall that is just large enough to allow the passage of the tubular portion 232, but not so large that the wall engaging portion 230 passes therethrough. In one example, the outer dimension of the head portion is just slightly larger than the outer dimension of the tubular portion 232 when in its insertion orientation, which enables the tubular portion to slide through the wall opening created by the head portion 220 .

Here, the wall engaging portion 230 is formed as an annular flange with a set of ribs on the rear side for biting into the wall 100 . The ribs may have sharp edges suitable for effectively cutting into the wallboard material while still allowing the flanges to sit against the wallboard surface. The free ends of the arms 234 face the head portion 220 when the anchor is in the insertion orientation. Figures 11 to 13 show the progression of the arm 234 expansion as the head portion is pulled into the arm.

Anchor 210 differs from anchor 10 in many aspects. Especially once the lengths of the individual grooves between the plurality of arms 234 of the anchor 210 (ie, the individual arms 234) are longer than the grooves and arms in the anchor 10, installation in a wider variety of wallboard thicknesses is facilitated. Furthermore, as shown in FIGS. 14-16 , the wall penetration member 212 is of a two-piece configuration, and the distal tip portion 213 has a boss 215 that is inserted into the opening 217 of the female threaded portion 219 . For example, a releasable friction fit may be provided between the boss 215 and the opening 217, or a keyed connection may be used for rotational drive purposes.

Installation of anchor 210 may be similar to that of anchor 10 described above. In use, the two-piece nature of the wall penetration member 212 allows the use of longer screws as desired. especially once the anchor is in the wall In place, if a long screw is screwed into opening 217, one end of the screw can eventually reach and engage boss 215, pushing tip portion 213 away from internally threaded portion 219, causing tip portion 213 to exit and fall into the wall.

In certain embodiments, anchor 10 or 210 may have a rib feature on the outer surface of arm 34 or 234 near the connecting end of the arm (eg, feature 235 referred to in FIG. 13 ), which may increase the abutment as the arm expands Friction on interior wall surfaces, potentially increasing the anchor's load rating in shear and tension.

128。 Referring now to FIGS. 17-23 , an anchor 110 in an alternative embodiment is shown including a wall penetration member 112 , a body member 114 and a sleeve member 113 . The wall penetration member 112 includes a male thread inner end portion (male thread portion 116 ) and a wall penetration end portion 118 . The wall penetrating end portion 118 includes an enlarged head portion 120 and a tip 122 . The transition region 124 between the tip 122 and the enlarged head portion 120 may be shaped similarly to the transition region 24 described above. Externally threaded portion 116 includes an inner end 126 having a tool receiver shaped to be rotated by a tool (eg, a hexagonal groove, a cross groove, a quincunx groove, or other shapes). The inner end 126 leads to an inner channel 128 which is also threaded.

The body member 114 has a wall engaging portion 130 at one end and an internally threaded tubular portion 132 extending therefrom. The tubular portion 132 receives the externally threaded portion 116 of the wall penetrating member via a threaded fit of the two members. The wall penetrating member 112 is movable relative to the body member 114 between an insertion orientation of the anchor ( FIGS. 18 and 19 ) and a retention orientation of the anchor ( FIGS. 20 and 21 ). Cannula member 113 is disposed about respective portions of both body member 114 and wall penetrating member 112 and moves along the body member toward portion 130 to form a transition between the insertion and retention orientations of anchor 110 .

100。 In the inserted orientation of anchor 110, a set of retention arms 134 (three arms 34 are shown in the illustrated embodiment, but the number of arms may be one, two, or more than three) integral with cannula member 113 are Next to the reduced diameter end section (tubular end section 150 ) of the tubular portion 132 of the body member lies flat. Thus, in the insertion orientation, the larger diameter section of tubular portion 132 (tubular section 152 ) and cannula member 113 have similar diameters, facilitating insertion into wall 100 through an opening that may Produced by rotating the wall penetrating member when the tip 122 engages the wall. The head portion 120 is sized to create a hole in the wall that is just large enough to allow passage of the sleeve member 113 and tubular section 152, but not so large that the wall engaging portion 130 passes (eg, the size of the head may be The same as or slightly larger than the outer dimensions of the tubular section 152). As above, here the wall engaging portion 130 is formed on the rear side as an annular flange with a set of ribs 136 for biting into the wall 100 .

The free end of the arm 134 faces the wall engaging portion 130 when the anchor is in the insertion orientation. For installation purposes, a tool is inserted into the opening 140 at one end of the body member and the tool is engaged with the tool receiving portion of the inner end 126 of the wall penetrating member 112 . The tip 122 is positioned against the outer surface 102 of the wall 100 and the tool is rotated in a clockwise direction (as viewed from the front side of the wall) to rotate the wall penetration and body components together in a clockwise direction for wall penetration . During such rotation, a force towards the wall is applied by the tool and the wall penetrating member 112 creates a hole in the wall 100, allowing the wall penetrating member 112, the sleeve member 113 and the body member 114 to move into the wall 100 until the body member The wall engaging portion 130 engages the wall (according to FIG. 11 ) and the ribs 136 bite into the wall panel to limit further rotation of the body member 114 . Continued clockwise rotation of the tool causes continued rotation of the wall penetrating member 112 such that the threading interaction of the wall penetrating member 112 and the body member 114 pulls the wall penetrating member 112 further into the body member (eg, back toward the wall). As the wall penetrating member 112 is drawn further into the wall penetrating member 112 , the shoulder 120A on the side of the head portion 120 engages and moves the sleeve member 113 towards the larger tubular section 152 . The inwardly protruding extending ramp feature 160 positioned toward the connecting end of each arm 134 will climb up the tubular end section 150 causing the retaining arms 134 to expand outwardly behind the rear surface of the wall for retaining the hollow wall anchor at inside the wall (Figure 20).

Once the anchor 110 is fully installed, the tool can be removed and then the threaded fastener (eg, screw or bolt) can be moved into the anchor and into the inner channel 128 in order to secure the desired structure (eg, shelf, bracket, or other structure) to the wall. In particular, the threaded fastener is also screwed into the inner channel 128 by clockwise rotation. Therefore, in the event that the thread tightening member reaches the end of the inner channel 128, the prevention of Stopping further rotation relative to the wall penetrating member 112, applying additional rotational force to the tightening member will tend to rotate the wall penetrating member 112 more clockwise, which tends to cause the extension arm 134 to expand further. Lock the anchor to the wall.

Removing the anchor 110 from the wall can be accomplished by first removing any inserted tie elements. The tool can then be moved into the anchor, engaged with the inner end 126 and rotated counterclockwise. During such rotation of the tool, with a force applied towards the wall, the portion 130 of the body member 114 remains engaged with the wall and prevents rotation of the body member 114. Therefore, only the wall penetrating member 112 is rotated counterclockwise, thereby moving the wall penetrating member 112 out of the body member 114 due to the thread interaction between the members. Finally, the wall penetration member 112 is completely separated from the body member 114 and falls into the inside of the wall. The tool can then be removed and the body part 114 pulled out of the wall, and the sleeve part 113 slides off the body part 114 and also falls inside the wall.

328。 Referring now to FIGS. 24-31 , an anchor 310 in an alternative embodiment is shown including a wall penetration member 312 , a body member 314 and a sleeve member 313 . The wall penetration member 312 includes a male thread inner end portion (male thread portion 316 ) and a wall penetration end portion 318 . The wall penetrating end portion 318 includes an enlarged head portion 320 and a tip 322 . The transition region 324 between the tip 322 and the enlarged head portion 320 may be shaped similarly to the transition regions described above. Externally threaded portion 316 includes an inner end 326 having a tool receiving portion shaped to be rotated by a tool (eg, a hexagonal groove, a cruciform groove, a quincunx groove, or other shapes). The inner end 326 leads to an inner channel 328 which is also threaded.

The body member 314 has a wall engaging portion 330 at one end and an internally threaded tubular portion 332 extending therefrom. The tubular portion 332 receives the externally threaded portion 316 of the wall penetrating member via a threaded fit of the two members. The wall penetrating member 312 is movable relative to the body member 314 between an insertion orientation of the anchor (FIGS. 24 and 30) and a retention orientation of the anchor (FIGS. 26-29). The sleeve member 313 is disposed around respective portions of both the body member 314 and the wall penetration member 312 and moves along the body member towards the portion 330 .

100。 In the insertion orientation of anchor 310, a set of retainers integral with cannula member 313 Arms 334 (three arms 334 are shown in the illustrated embodiment, but the number of arms may be one, two, or more than three) lie flat adjacent to the reduced diameter end section 350 of the portion 332 of the body member. Thus, in the insertion orientation, the larger diameter section 352 of the tubular portion 332 and the sleeve member 313 have similar diameters, facilitating insertion into the wall 100 through an opening that can be rotated by rotating the wall when the tip 322 engages the wall penetrating the part. The head portion 320 is sized to create a hole in the wall that is just large enough to allow passage of the sleeve member 313 and tubular section 352, but not so large as to allow passage of the wall engaging portion 330 (eg, the size of the head may be The same as or slightly larger than the outer dimensions of the tubular section 352). As above, here the wall engaging portion 330 is formed on the rear side as an annular flange with a set of ribs 336 for biting into the wall 100 .

Arm 334 faces wall engaging portion 330 when the anchor is in the insertion orientation. The installation of the anchor 310 is similar to that of the anchor 110 described above, with the arms including the inner ramp feature 360 causing the arms to expand while the tubular sleeve (sleeve member 313 ) moves towards the wall junction 330 .

Figures 26-28 demonstrate that anchor 310, like anchor 110 described above, is also suitable for installation in walls having a variety of different thicknesses. In both aspects, the arms of the tubular sleeve (sleeve member) are rapidly expanded outward, and then the tubular sleeve (sleeve member) is simply moved close to the portion 330 for wallboard of reduced thickness, while only A few on the multi-rotation part 312 is sufficient (eg, using a tool inserted into the opening 340 at the end of the body part).

Anchor 310 differs from anchor 110 in many aspects. In particular, the wall penetration member 312 is of a two-piece configuration having a distal tip portion (tip 322 ) with a boss 315 that is inserted into the opening 317 of the internally threaded portion 319 . For example, a releasable friction fit may be provided between the boss 315 and the opening 317 or a keyed connection may be used for rotational drive purposes. The two-piece wall penetration 312 essentially allows the use of longer screws if desired. In particular, once the anchor is in place in the wall, if a long screw is screwed into opening 328, the end of the screw may eventually reach and engage boss 315, pushing tip 322 away from internally threaded portion 319, causing tip 322 separates and falls into the wall, even at anchor 310 The same remains applicable.

In the anchor 310 version, enlarged slots 370 are provided at the junction ends of adjacent two arms 334 to obtain reduced stress compared to smaller openings in similar locations in the anchor 110 .

In particular, the free ends of the arms 334 of the anchor 310 are curved as shown in the side view of FIG. 24 , as are the arms 134 of the anchor 110 . However, best seen in Figures 31 and 32, showing anchors 310 and 110, respectively, the free ends of arms 134 are curved to provide a flat surface to be pushed into contact with the inner surface of the wall panel, and the free ends of arms 334 are Tie straight or flat so that the corner is pulled into contact with the inner surface of the wallboard and the end of the weighing arm bites into the surface.

As shown in Figures 33 and 34, a hook assembly 900 or other structure can be incorporated into the anchor member such that the hook or other structure is used to rotate the anchor for insertion into or removal from the wall. Furthermore, a variety of alternative cutting edge configurations are possible. To achieve the same benefits as the removable tip, allowing longer screws to be used with the assembly, while also being fabricated as a single piece, the tip configuration can be hollow or the tip can be disassembled when the screw contacts the backside, or the tip can be assembled The state is broken at the end and allows the screw to be installed.

Anchors with cutout features at the tip may also be provided. In this regard, referring to FIGS. 35-39 , the anchor 410 is shown to include a wall penetrating member 412 , a body member 414 and a sleeve member 413 . The wall penetration member 412 includes a male thread inner end portion (male thread portion 416 ) and a wall penetration end portion 418 . The wall penetrating end portion 418 includes a cylindrical distal end 422 that defines an edge for engaging the wall panel and cutting during rotation. To facilitate such cutting, one or more cutting teeth or cutting steps 423 may be provided at the end edge. Additionally, a centering or stabilizing pin (central stabilizing member 425) can be provided and pushed to the wall panel a little before starting to rotate the anchor and cut the wall panel. Externally threaded portion 416 includes an inner end 426 having a tool receiver shaped to be rotated by a tool (eg, a hexagonal groove, a cross groove, a quincunx groove, or other shapes). The inner end 426 leads to an inner channel 428 which is threaded along at least a portion of its length for the same reasons described above. Cannula member 413 includes expandable retention arms 434 . The operation of the anchor 410 is similar to that of the anchor 110 described above, except that the wall penetration member 412 is installed for installation A hole is dug in the wall panel during initiation of the rotating anchor, and in some cases the removed core is nested into the end of the cylindrical distal end 422 .

523。 Figures 40-41 show anchor 510 having body member 514, sleeve member 513 with expandable arms 534, and wall penetration member 512 including cylindrical end 522 including five cuts Teeth or cutting steps 523 .

622。 Anchor 610 shown in FIGS. 42-43 has a body member 614, a sleeve member 613 with spreading arms 634, and a wall penetration member 612 including a cylindrical end 622 containing three cutting teeth or cutting steps 623 .

728。 Referring now to FIGS. 44-46 , another hollow wall anchor 710 is shown that includes a wall penetration member 712 and a body member 714 . As an example, the wall penetration member 712 may be made of metal construction to facilitate cutting or drilling of walls, and the body member 714 may be made of plastic or metal. The wall penetrating member 712 includes a male threaded inner end portion (male threaded portion 716 ) having threads 716A and a wall penetrating end portion 718 . The wall penetrating end portion 718 includes a cylindrical distal end 722 that defines an edge for engaging the wall panel and cutting the wall panel during rotation. To facilitate such cutting, one or more cutting teeth or cutting steps 723 may be provided at the end edge. In this anchor 710, a centering or stabilizing pin (central stabilizing member 725) can be formed from the distal tip of a removable screw 727 and can be pushed slightly to the wall panel before rotating the anchor and cutting the wall panel begins. Externally threaded portion portion 716 includes an inner end 726 having a tool receiver shaped to be rotated by a tool (eg, a hexagonal groove, a cross groove, a quincunx groove, or other shapes). The inner end 726 leads to an inner channel 728 which is also threaded (thread 728A).

727A。 The body member 714 has a wall engaging portion 730 at one end and an internally threaded tubular portion (tubular portion 732 ) extending from the wall engaging portion 730 . The tubular portion 732 receives the wall penetrating member male threaded portion 716 via a threaded fit of the two members. The wall penetrating member 712 is movable relative to the body member between an insertion orientation of the anchor (FIGS. 44 and 45) and a retention orientation of the anchor (FIG. 46). In the inserted orientation, one or more retaining arms 734 (which may vary in number as explained in the previous embodiments) It is integral with the body member 714 which lies adjacent the externally threaded portion 716 of the wall penetration member 712. Retention arm 734 forms part of tubular portion 732 and may also include an internally threaded portion that interacts with the threads of externally threaded portion 716 . Thus, in the inserted orientation, the tubular portion 732 with the retaining arms 734 in the collapsed state has a relatively uniform shape, facilitating insertion into the wall panel through an opening that can be rotated when the cutting end 722 engages the wall The wall penetrates the component. The free end of arm 734 faces cutting end 722 when the anchor is in the insertion orientation. The tubular end of the wall penetration member 712 is sized to create a hole in the wall that is just large enough to allow the passage of the tubular portion 732, but not so large that the wall engaging portion 730 can pass therethrough. Here the wall engaging portion 730 is formed on the rear side (or wall facing side) as an annular end flange with a set of ribs 736 for biting into the wall panel. End openings 740 in portion 730 provide access to the interior of the anchor, including screw heads 727A engaged to the inner end 726 of the wall penetration member 712 .

For installation purposes, referring to Figures 47 to 53, a tool (here the end of a screwdriver 790) is tethered into the opening 740 at the end of the body member 714 when the anchor is in the insertion orientation, while the screw 727 can be removed inside the anchor. The tool engages the head of the screw, and the tip of the screw (centering or stabilizing pin (central stabilizing member 725)) is moved into contact with the outer surface 102 of the wall 100 to stabilize the anchor 710 in the desired installation location. Tool 790 is then rotated clockwise (viewed from the front side of the wall) to rotate the wall penetration member and body member together in a clockwise direction for penetration of the wall. During such rotation, the force exerted by the tool towards the wall and the wall penetration member 712 also drills holes in the wall 100 (according to Figures 48, 49), allowing both the wall penetration member 712 and the body member 714 to move into Wall 100 until the wall engaging portion 730 of the body part engages the wall surface (according to Figures 50, 51) and restricts further rotation of the body part 714. In this regard, once the wall penetration member 712 is drilled completely through the wall panel, the tubular portion of the body member 714 can be quickly slid in through the resulting opening and the flange 730 seated against the wall. , so that the ribs bite into the siding.

Continuing to rotate the tool clockwise will cause the wall penetrating member 712 to continue to rotate, causing the thread interaction of the wall penetrating member 712 and the body member 714 to pull the wall penetrating member 712 further into the The body part (eg back towards the wall according to Figure 51). As the wall penetrating member 712 is pulled further into the body member 714, the retaining arm 734 is expanded outwardly behind the rear surface of the wall panel (eg when the enlarged tubular end of the wall penetrating member 712 moves into the arm 734 and pushes outwardly) They) are used to hold the hollow wall anchors in the wall. In this position, the screw head 727A can be moved to the front or front side of the anchor as shown.

Once the anchor 710 is fully installed, the tool is rotated counterclockwise to remove the screw from the anchor (according to FIG. 52 ), then the desired structure 792 (eg, here a hook) is placed adjacent to the anchor 710 and the removable screw 727 can be inserted Rotate back into the anchor (according to Figure 53). Screws are threaded back into inner channel 728 (not shown in Figure 53) to secure structures (eg, hooks, shelves, brackets, or other structures) to the wall.

Referring now to Figures 54, 55, since the anchor 710 is rotated into the wall using the removable screw 727, the anchor may include one or more raised features 726A at the end of the inner end 726 of the wall penetrating member 712. The microprojection features are raised protrusions that allow the screw to be tightened when securing the anchor into the wall and provide low friction contact with the screw head 727A to loosen the removable screw 727 for screw removal For use without sacrificing the anchor's grip on the wall covering.

To remove the anchor 710 from the wall, the removable screw 727 is removed. A tool can then be inserted into the anchor end and engage the inner end 726 to unscrew the wall penetrating member 712 from the body member 714 until the wall penetrating member 712 falls into the wall, where the body member 714 can slide through the opening in the wall out.

It should be clearly understood that the above description is only intended to illustrate and exemplify, and is not intended to limit the present invention, and there are other changes or modifications possible.
