Abstract

This invention provides an optical subassembly module device for Mux (multiplexing) and Demux (demultiplexing) of multiple optical wavelengths. In TOSA (transmitter of optical subassembly), four laser beams have different wavelengths. Each of these beams is converted into parallel rays after passing through its lens (ball lens or aspheric lens), then these four beams are coupled together by means of the mounted thin film filters. In the last stage, the combined signals are coupled into the fiber core by another lens (ball lens or aspheric lens). In ROSA (receiver of optical subassembly), the light signals having different wavelengths exit from the fiber end and travel in parallel after passing through the lens (ball lens or aspheric lens). These signals are then splitted by the mounted thin film filters. Finally, the splitted signals are recorded by the photodetectors. This invention owns both passive alignment and active alignment design to fabricate the OSA (optical subassembly) structure in order to optimize the coupling efficiency of this new module.
