Abstract

An ink cartridge comprises an ink pack (21) that is pressed by air pressure to discharge ink through an ink outlet port (22), an outer shell case (20a, 20b) that receives the ink pack (21) to allow the latter to be pressed by air pressure with the ink outlet port (22) exposed and that has a pressurized air inlet port (23) connectible to an air source for pressing the ink pack (21), and a pressure adjusting means (30) that is received in the outer shell case to discharge the air in the outer shell case in such a manner as to keep the pressure in the space of the outer shell case at a set value. If the set value of the pressure adjusting means (30) has been changed to an optimum value for each ink cartridge, the ink pack can be pressed in an optimum state irrespective of the air pressure from the pressurized air inlet port (23).
