Abstract

A kind of torsion detector is used to detect the pedal torsion for the electric vehicle having attached foot pedals. The detector contains a strain-sensing spindle and at least one signal sensing-apparatus. The strain-sensing spindle is connected with inside of the five-way tube for the middle segment of electric bicycle frame and the transmission gear plate, in which both terminals of the strain-sensing spindle are individually connected with a foot pedal such that the spindle is driven to rotate by stamping the foot pedal. In addition, several connecting terminals and changing-direction devices are installed on the strain-sensing spindle. And, the connecting terminal is connected with a strain quantity amplifier. The strain quantity amplifier provides an electric signal output of the relative torsion strain quantity as the torsion strain-sensing spindle receives force to rotate. At least one signal sensing-apparatus, which has several contact rods and a changing-direction sensing device, is installed on the five-way tube. And, the contact rod and the changing-direction sensing device are inserted inside the five-way tube such that the contact rod and the changing-direction sensing device are contacted with the connecting terminal of the strain-sensing spindle and the changing-direction device, respectively. Therefore, torsion sensing electric signal of foot pedals and the changing-direction signal are sensed and transmitted to motor power controller of the electric bicycle, in which the transmitted signals are used as the reference basis for inputting the auxiliary power in control.
