The valve (80) includes a sleeve (117) and an occlusion member (82) which has at least two slits (84) extending therethrough. The slits (84) are closed when there is no pressure differential across the occlusion member (82). The slits (84) open when exposed to a predetermined pressure difference between (1) the ambient atmosphere outside the package (15) or other enclosure, and (2) the gases inside the package (15) or other enclosure.
