Abstract

A disc cartridge generally comprises a data recording disc and a rectangular cassette for rotatably receiving therein the data recording disc. Elongate tracks are formed on laterally opposed side portions of an upper surface of the rectangular cassette. Each track is adapted to be pressed down by a pressing member when the disc cartridge is slid into a disc player. A plurality of parallel grooves are formed on the elongate tracks. With these parallel grooves, smoothed ingress and egress movement of the disc cartridge into and from the disc player is achieved while preventing undesired production of flaws or scratches on the elongate tracks which would be caused by a frictional sliding between the pressing member and the tracks. Even when fine particles or abrasion powder is produced due to the frictional sliding, such foreign particles are accumulated or collected in the grooves.
