Abstract
In a process for the selective disproportionation of toluene to para-xylene, single-pass para-xylene product levels of over 90% coupled with a toluene conversion of at least 15% are achieved using a molecular sieve catalyst treated with a silicon-containing compound prior to and/or during at least part of the disproportionation process.
