Abstract
The adhesive strength and hardness of CrN deposition on SKD 61 tool steel can be enhanced by pre-nitriding and nitrocarburing on substrate. The CrN film was deposited by the cathodic arc ion plating deposition process at low temperature 200 DEG C. These pretreatments included plasma nitriding, gas nitriding and nitrocarburing respectively, and then polished respectively with grit 600#, 1000#, 1800# SiC, Grinding paper, and 1000# SiC Grinding paper and dimand paste finally finished with hard CrN coating.
