Abstract
A low-pressure mercury vapor-filled discharge lamp characterized in comprising: a translucent body; first and second spaced-apart electrodes which are cold cathodes sealed in the body; means in the body for permitting a gas discharge to be produced between the first and second electrodes; a thermal insulation means surrounding at least a portion of the body; an outer diameter of a thermal insulation means being not more than 8 mm; and the thermal insulation means including cooperating means cooperating with the body to attain an illumination of the discharge lamp at more than 50% of a stable luminance within 60 seconds, over a substantial ambient temperature of about 0℃ at an input power of less than 3w.
