Abstract

A fence system for table saws, the fence system comprising a support system for supporting a fence member above a work surface of the table saw, and a locking system that is independent of the support system, the locking system comprising first and second jaw members that are operated in opened and closed positions, where the jaw members grip a structural member extending from the table saw when in the closed position, the jaw members being free to move in a vertical plane that is substantially parallel to an abutment surface on the fence member; but the fence member engaging the jaw members to prevent relative movement between the fence member and the jaw members towards and away from the saw blade.
