An amplitude shift keyed receiver which uses an infrared light and comprises: a signal receiving portion for reception, amplification and quantification; an amplitude shift keyed signal; a frequency demultiplier for demultiplying a clock signal by a predetermined value; a counter portion for counting the amplitude shift keyed signal at a specified interval under the control of the frequency demultiplier; a comparison portion for comparing a counting value from the counter portion with a reference value to determine whether the counting value satisfies a predetermined range or not; a pulse detection portion for compensating the error caused by the noise partially accompanying the signal of the signal receiving portion and in the comparison portion; a counter and a random portion for generating a signal which uses a rate as an n times pulse signal as its transmission rate while satisfying the outputs from the comparison portion and the pulse detection portion; and a signal recovery portion for recovering the signal of the counter and the random portion as an original signal.
