A protecting member for protecting a cutting edge of the blade portion of a tool, the blade portion having two opposite side faces; the protecting member having a side portion extending along one side face of the blade portion, and a covering portion connected to the side portion and extending along the cutting edge; in which the protecting member comprises magnetic elements for releasably retaining the protecting member in position in relation to the blade, so as to protect the cutting edge.
