Abstract

A rotatable tool-holder turret for lathes, work-centers and the like, which comprises a stationary base body with a cavity which extends along a longitudinal axis (X-X), a tool-holder table rotatable relative to the stationary base body, in which the rotation axis and the longitudinal axis (X-X) of the cavity are co-axial and coincident, a first ring with teeth carried by the stationary base body and distributed around the longitudinal axis of the cavity, a second ring with teeth concentrical with the first ring with teeth and carried by the rotatable tool-holder table, a first tubular element fixed with a third ring with teeth thereon which is facing the first and second ring with teeth and is axially movable between a first position and a second position wherein at the first position the first tubular element is used to lock the turret while the teeth of the third ring with teeth of the first tubular element mesh with the teeth of the first and second ring with teeth, and at the second position the first tubular element releases the turret while the teeth of the third ring with teeth of the first tubular element separate from the teeth of the first and second ring with teeth, a drive means for moving the table between working positions spaced angularly around the longitudinal axis, and means for moving the first tubular element between the first position and the second position, in which the turret comprises a second tubular element coaxial and axially spaced with the first tubular element, in which the second tubular element is stationary and at least one of the corresponding terminal walls of the first tubular element and the second tubular element is inclined to the longitudinal axis (X-X), a sleeve coaxial and concentrical with the second tubular element wherein a plurality of steel beads are installed in the sleeve, on one hand, when the steel beads receive a pushing force from a plurality of pre-compressed springs, the steel beads will slide axially; on the other hand, when the steel beads receive a pushing force from a cylinder-piston means operating with compressed air, the steel beads will move radially in-and-out of the space between the front walls, and a surface inclined to the longitudinal axis (X-X) in which the surface is formed on the sleeve and can be operated to contact the steel beads.
