A sequential decoding method of convolutional code comprises the steps of: 1. selecting node with the least weighting from all residual nodes; 2. reading one input type based on the node with the least weighting; 3. if decoding process has ended, then outputting bit sequence; otherwise performing next step; 4. comparing the input type with corresponding convolution code, generating the cost of next two corresponding nodes and decoded bit; 5. separately recording path information of the two nodes; 6. deciding if it reaches one preset decoding depth, if yes, then getting one decoded bit and outputting it from recorded path information, and returning to step 1 to repeat decoding procedure; if no, then directly returning to step 1 to repeat decoding procedure.
