Abstract
A preparation process for 6-alkylnaphthalene-2-carboxylic acid, which comprises using 2,6-dialkylnaphthalene of formula (I), in which R1 and R2 are the same or different and selected from linear or branched C1-C6 alkyl, to undergo reaction in C1-C6 aliphatic monoprotoic acid by using a catalyst system comprising 0.01~0.2 wt% (based on the weight of total reaction mixture, applicable hereinafter) of cobalt (III) acetate, 0.01~0.3 wt% of manganese acetate, and 0.03~0.3 wt% of metal chloride or ammonium chloride or alkaline metal thiocyanide, and adding 0.1~17% of water (based on the weight of total reaction mixture) in which the reaction temperature is 175 deg.C and reaction pressure is 30 kg/cm2 and the product is 6-alkyl-2-naphthalene carboxylic acid of formula (II): (see claim 1).
