Abstract
The present invention is to provide an exhaust gas purifying device which can prevent generation of crack or melting damages to the ceramic filter while enabling complete combustion of diesel particulate arrested, i.e. the reproduction of excellent filter. In order to attain this object, the air flow of the air inlet means 13 is altered in the specific pattern with the time during the reproduction period or before or after power is supplied to electric heater 11 to burn the particulate. For example, when the combustion is reaching the vicinity of the center of radial direction of the end face in the down stream side of the air inlet means 13, the combustion is proceeded with small air inlet flow. Thus, the difference of combustion radius speed between the radial direction center of the down stream of filter 2 and the periphery of the down stream of filter 2 will decrease. When the air flow is increased afterwards the combustion speed in radial direction will increase (and the combustion is restarted). As a result, the cinder of particulate on the periphery of the downstream of filter 2 can be reduced in a large scale.
