Abstract

A device is able to control an AC voltage source for modulating the luminosity of a lamp in a cyclical manner. The device comprises a waveform generator, a photo coupler and a triac. The output of the waveform generator is transformed through the photo coupler as a varying resistance which formed an RC timing circuit to generate a triggering signal for the triac. So that the amount of power delivered by the triac to a lighting element is correspondent to the output of the waveform generator. The frequency, the amplitude and the range of the light modulation can be adjusted through the frequency and level controls to these analogue elements without using a microprocessor. An output stablizer is also incorporated into the circuit for overcoming any unstable pulse in the AC source.
