Abstract

A process of separation of p-Diethylbenzene from Diethylbenzene isomers, in which the isomers contains at least one m-Diethylbenzene and o-Diethylbenzene, the process comprises: (a) using high pressure CO2, in which the pressure is higher than 27 atm, as carrier to feed the isomers through a silicalite adsorbent bed to undergo selective adsorption on p-Diethylbenzene, in which the selective adsorption process is taken place at 24-48 atm, 323-393 K and the CO2 flowrate being 15.0-40.0 cm3/min (temperature and pressure of the adsorbent bed) to obtain first product stream which has passed the adsorbent bed and is enriched in m-Diethylbenzene and/or o-Diethylbenzene and substantially contains no p-Diethylbenzene; and (b) when the concentration of p-Diethylbenzene in the first product stream containing isomers reaching 95-100 wt %, introducing a higher pressure CO2, in which the pressure is at 50-102 atm, through the adsorbent bed to de-absorb the absorbent bed to obtain second product stream which contains essentially pure p-Diethylbenzene and no other Diethylbenzene isomers.
