Abstract

A smoothing method for two dimensional image signals which comprises thefollowing steps: (a) providing a two dimensional original image signals which use multiple original pixel data a(1,1), a(1,2), ..., a(N,I) to form multiple scanning lines, the original image signals provide two original pixels data each time in which one original pixel data a(n, i) is the original pixel data of the nth original pixel data of the ith scanning line and the another original pixel data a(n, i+1) is the original pixel data of the nth original pixel data of the (i+1)th scanning line; (b) providing a line memory device to store the (i-1)the line original pixel data a(1, i-1), a(2, i-1), ..., a(N, i-1) of the multiple scanning lines; (c) retrieving the original pixel data a(n, i-1) from the line memory device and deciding the mean value H(n, j) of the original pixel data a(n, i), a(n, i-1); (d) deciding the mean value H(n, j+1) of the original pixel data a(n, i), a(n, i+1); (e) providing a output buffer to store the mean values H(n, j) and H(n, j+1), the mean values H(n, j) and H(n, j+1) are the smoothed data; and (f) storing the above original pixel data a(n, i+1) to the line memory device to replace the original pixel data a(n, i-1).
