An electronic aerosol delivery system comprising: (a) an aerosol dispenser for aerosolizing a formulation for inhalation by a user of the electronic aerosol delivery system; (b) a power supply comprising a battery or battery pack for powering the aerosol dispenser; and (c) an aerosolizable formulation comprising (i) caffeine; (ii) a solvent selected from water, propylene glycol, glycerin, and mixtures thereof; and (iii) a buffer solution comprising benzoic acid and a benzoate salt.
