Embodiments disclosed in the present invention relate to an apparatus and method for performing grading to evaluate the quality of printed cards.

Collecting is a common hobby of human beings. The objects of collection are very wide and the methods can be very diverse. As a hobby, you can choose to exchange cards as one of the collection objects. Trading cards are photo cards that contain images of specific people or characters, and sports-related cards, in particular, have been gaining traction among consumers. In the case of trading cards, each card may include an image of a different character and may be made of a different color or a different material.

Usually, manufacturers of exchange cards sell combinations including arbitrary cards to collectors without disclosing the contents of the cards. Therefore, many collectors need to exchange cards with other collectors or buy cards from other collectors in order to obtain the cards they want. For exchange or sale of cards, it is necessary to evaluate the quality status of exchange cards. To this end, various service providers have emerged that evaluate and guarantee the grade of exchanged cards, and collectors evaluate the quality status of the cards they own through grading service providers.

Hereinafter, a specific method for rating printed cards will be described in detail.

Fig. 2 is a block diagram showing the composition of a rating device for printed cards according to an embodiment.

Referring to FIG. 2 , a rating device 200 for printing cards according to an embodiment may include a communication circuit 210 , a memory 220 and a processor 230 . The rating device 200 for printing cards can be a computing device, for example, a desktop computer, a laptop computer, a tablet computer, a smart phone, etc. as a user terminal, and can be implemented in the form of a server. In this case, the grading device 200 for printing cards may be more physically located on premise or in the cloud. As another example, the rating device 200 for printing cards can be realized by two or more computing devices in a distributed environment (for example: a user terminal and a server).

The communication circuit 210 may be configured to communicate with the outside in a wireless manner or in a wired manner. The communication circuit 210 can send/receive data with an external server or other external devices.

Memory 220 may include volatile memory 220 and/or non-volatile memory 220 . The memory 220 may store various materials processed by the card-printing grading device 200 . For example, the memory 220 can store data processed inside the rating device 200 for printing cards, and can even store data received from the outside.

The processor 230 can be electrically connected to the communication circuit 210 and the memory 220 . The processor 230 can control the communication circuit 210 and the memory 220, and can perform various data processing and calculations. Although processor 230 is shown in FIG. 2 as a single configuration, it may also be implemented in multiple separate fashions. Processor 230 may provide the user with tools for grading printed cards. The processor 230 executes software or instructions stored in the memory 220 to perform the following actions.

According to an embodiment, the processor 230 may acquire a scanned image of the evaluation object card. Processor 230 may acquire a scanned image of a scanned evaluation object card from a scanner or other external computing device. The scanned image may be a high-resolution image capable of confirming, for example, various defects included in the evaluation object card.

According to an embodiment, the processor 230 may use the communication circuit 210 to acquire a sample image corresponding to the evaluation target card provided by the manufacturer of the evaluation target card. The processor 230 may acquire, as a sample image, a card image corresponding to an ideal state of an evaluation target card without defects from an external server. The sample image can be acquired based on identification information capable of identifying the evaluation target card.

According to an embodiment, the processor 230 may calculate a centering score related to the position of the characteristic portion of the evaluation target card by comparing the scanned image with the sample image. The evaluation target card may include, for example, a feature portion surrounded by a frame including a person. For example, the frame can be made into a square shape (with rounded corners) or other shapes. The feature portion may not include a frame. Due to printing errors, cutting errors, or process margins, etc., the characteristic part may not be located in the center of the evaluation target card, and the printing angle of the characteristic part is more likely to be inclined clockwise or counterclockwise. In this case, the quality of the evaluation target card may decrease, so it is necessary to calculate the centering score by considering the position and angle of the characteristic part. The closer the position of the characteristic part is to the center of the evaluation target card and the closer the inclination angle of the characteristic part is to 0, the higher the calculated centering score may be.

For example, processor 230 may obtain a plurality of scanned image points from the bounding box of a feature appearing in the scanned image. The processor 230 may acquire 4 scanned image points corresponding to 4 corners of the square frame (rounded corners) from the scanned image. In the case that the frame has a different shape or does not include a frame, appropriate feature points can be acquired as scanned image points by analyzing the scanned image. The processor 230 may acquire a plurality of sample image points corresponding to a plurality of scanned image points from a border of a feature appearing in the sample image. The processor 230 may acquire 4 sample image points corresponding to 4 corners of the square frame (rounded corners) from the sample image. In the case that the frame has a different shape or does not include a frame, appropriate feature points can be obtained as sample image points by analyzing the sample image. Each of the plurality of sample image points may correspond to each of the plurality of scanned image points. The processor 230 can obtain information about the position and angle of the characteristic portion of the evaluation target card by comparing the positions (or coordinates) of the plurality of scanned image points and the plurality of sample image points. The processor 230 may calculate a centering score representing a difference between a position of a characteristic portion appearing in a sample image and a position of a characteristic portion of the evaluation object card based on information on the position and angle of the characteristic portion of the evaluation object card. The smaller the aforementioned differences, the higher the likely centered score calculated.

According to an embodiment, the processor 230 may calculate a defect score related to a defect included on the surface or end of the evaluation object card by analyzing the scanned image. Defect scores may include surface scores, edge scores, and corner scores. Defects caused by printing errors, cutting errors, and/or carelessness may exist in the surface, edges, or corners of the evaluation target card. Defects present on the surface can be categorized, for example, as scratches (e.g. scratched by other objects), dust (e.g. dust adhered to the surface of the card), mis-coloration (e.g. wrong color printing), roll marks (e.g. Ex: printing errors such as dents, printlines, surface dimples), fingerprints (e.g. smudges caused by fingerprints), glue (e.g. external outflow of adhesive), dirt (filth) (for example: pollution caused by dirt) and coating bubbles (for example: bubbles generated when cards are coated) and other types. Defects present at edges or corners can be classified as cases of cutting errors during manufacturing and/or cases of wear due to management negligence. In the presence of the above-mentioned defects, the quality of the evaluation target card may decrease, so it is necessary to consider all the defects existing in the evaluation target card to calculate the defect score. Since the types and sizes of defects have different effects on the card quality, different weights can be applied according to the types and sizes of defects during scoring.

For example, the processor 230 may mark a sign corresponding to the location and type of the defect on the scanned image by analyzing the scanned image. The processor 230 may use a canvas (Canvas) to mark a defective portion on the scanned image. The shape or color of the mark may be set differently to correspond to the kind of the defect, and the size of the area where the mark is marked may correspond to the size of the defect. The processor 230 can calculate the defects included on the surface or the edge representing the degree of defects based on the mark (for example: the coordinates and area of the mark), the saturation of the area corresponding to the mark on the scanned image, and the material of the evaluation object card. Fraction. The processor 230 may calculate the defect score based on the relationship between the type of defect and the saturation and the relationship between the type of defect and the material. For example, when there is a white printing error in an area with low saturation, it may affect the quality of the evaluation target card more than when there is a defect in an area with high saturation. For another example, a scratch on a paper card may have less influence on the quality of the evaluation target card than a defect on a chrome card. A more accurate defect score can be calculated by taking into account the type of defect, the saturation of the area where the defect is located, and the material of the card being evaluated.

According to an embodiment, the processor 230 may provide a rating result of the evaluation object card based on the middle score and the defect score. For example, the processor 230 may add the middle score and the defect score (for example: 900 points), and output a grade (for example: grade 9) corresponding to the range of the added scores (for example: 875~925 points).

As described above, by utilizing a computing system to perform ratings based on objective criteria, reasonable evaluation results can be provided to consumers quickly and economically.

Fig. 3 is a diagram for explaining an exemplary operation of a rating device for printed cards according to an embodiment.

Referring to FIG. 3 , a rating apparatus according to an embodiment may acquire a scanned image 310 of an evaluation object card, and may acquire a sample image 320 corresponding to the evaluation object card. The acquisition of the scanned image and the acquisition of the sample image can be performed simultaneously, and can be performed in reverse order. It is also possible to acquire sample images of various types of cards in advance and store them in the memory.

The rating device may use the scanned image and the sample image to calculate a center score 330 , calculate a surface score 340 , calculate an edge score 350 , and calculate a corner score 360 . The calculation of center score, surface score, edge score and corner score can be performed independently, and the calculation order can also be set arbitrarily. Furthermore, some of the four points may be combined with each other, and may be further divided into two or more items.

The rating device can provide a rating result 370 of the evaluation target card by using the calculated four scores. Rating results can be provided as scores, and more importantly, as grades.

Fig. 4 is a diagram for explaining an exemplary operation of a rating device for printed cards according to an embodiment.

Referring to FIG. 4 , the rating device according to an embodiment can calculate the middle score by comparing the sample image 410 with the scanned images 420 , 430 .

The sample image 410 is an image provided by the manufacturer, which may be an ideal image of the feature 411 printed in the exact center of the sample image 410 at a precise angle. The rating device may acquire feature points corresponding to the four corners of the feature portion 411 . In the sample image 410 , the left margin and the right margin of the characteristic part 411 may be the same, and the upper margin and the lower margin may be the same.

The first scanned image 420 may be an image of a scanned first evaluation object card. The feature 421 of the first scanned image 420 may be offset to the right due to a printing error or cutting error. The rating device may acquire feature points corresponding to the four corners of the feature portion 421 . The rating device can confirm the deviation degree of the characteristic part 421 based on the coordinates of the four characteristic points of the characteristic part 411 and the coordinates of the four characteristic points of the characteristic part 421, and can calculate the center score based on the degree of deviation (length). Due to the deviation of the characteristic part 421, the quality of the first evaluation object card is reduced, and thus the center score is reduced according to the degree of deviation.

The second scanned image 430 may be an image of a scanned first evaluation object card. Due to printing errors or cutting errors, the feature portion 433 of the second scanned image 430 may be positioned in a state of clockwise rotation. The rating device may acquire feature points corresponding to the four corners of the feature portion 433 . The ranking device can confirm the degree of rotation of the characteristic part 433 based on the coordinates of the four characteristic points of the characteristic part 411 and the coordinates of the four characteristic points of the characteristic part 433, and can calculate the center score based on the degree of rotation (angle). Due to the rotation of the characteristic part 433, the quality of the second evaluation object card is lowered, and thus the centering score is lowered according to the degree of rotation.

In Fig. 4, the case where the feature part has a frame has been described, but it is not limited thereto. In the case where the feature part does not have a frame, another feature point can be extracted from the image, and the centering score can be calculated using the extracted feature point.
