Abstract

本發明揭露一種應用在一電子裝置的控制方法,其中該電子裝置包含了一處理器以及一無線網路模組,且該控制方法包含有:根據該無線網路模組是否需要傳送一封包以產生一判斷結果;以及當該判斷結果指出該無線網路模組需要傳送該封包時,在該封包傳輸的過程中降低該處理器所使用之一時脈訊號的頻率。

Description

應用在電子裝置的控制方法與相關的電子裝置及處理器
本發明係有關於電子裝置的控制方法,尤指一種具有無線網路模組之電子裝置的控制方法。
在目前的機上盒(over-the-top box,OTT box)中,通常會使用一個電源供應器(adaptor)以連接到市電來進行供電,然而,由於電源供應器的成本較高,故有些機上盒會透過通用序列匯流排(Universal Serial Bus,USB)接頭來連接到電視以進行供電。然而,由於大部分的機上盒是使用無線網路來收發資料,因此在處理器與無線網路模組都是高耗電元件的情形下,機上盒所消耗的電量很容易超出USB接頭所能提供的電流(USB 2.0的平均電流約500mA)。
因此,本發明的目的之一在於提供一種電子裝置的控制方法,其可以避免處理器與無線網路模組同時處於高功耗的狀態,以解決先前技術中所述的問題。
在本發明的一個實施例中,揭露了一種應用在一電子裝置的控制方法,其中該電子裝置包含了一處理器以及一無線網路模組,且該控制方法包含有:根據該無線網路模組是否需要傳送一封包以產生一判斷結果;以及當該判斷結果指出該無線網路模組需要傳送該封包時,在該封包傳輸的過程中降低該處理器所使用之一時脈訊號的頻率。
在本發明的另一個實施例中,揭露了一種電子裝置,其包含有一處理器以及一無線網路模組。在該電子裝置的操作中,無線網路模組被設置成可透過無線方式傳送至少一封包,且當該處理器得知該無線網路模組要進行無線傳輸時,在該無線網路模組傳送一封包的過程中該處理器降低所使用之一時脈訊號的頻率。
在本發明的另一個實施例中,揭露了一種設置在電子裝置內的處理器,其中該處理器係耦接於一無線網路模組,以及當該無線網路模組需要傳送一封包時,該處理器先降低所使用之一時脈訊號的頻率,之後再設定一計時器,並開始通知該無線網路模組傳送該封包;以及當該計時器所設定的時間逾時,該處理器提升所使用之該時脈訊號的頻率。
第1圖為根據本發明一實施例之電視盒100的示意圖。如第1圖所示,電視盒100包含了一處理器110、一無線網路模組120、一電源供應電路130、一高解析度多媒體介面(High Definition Multimedia Interface,HDMI)接頭140以及一USB接頭150,其中處理器110至少包含了一控制單元112、一計時器114以及一無線網路驅動程式(例如,Wi-Fi驅動程式)116。在本實施例中,電視盒100中的電源供應電路130係透過USB接頭150以接收來自電視102的直流電壓,並據以產生供應電壓VDD以對電視盒100內部的元件進行供電,亦即電視盒100並不需要連接至任何外部之利用市電的電源供應器。
在電視盒100的基本操作中,處理器110會透過無線網路模組120持續地接收來自外部的影音串流,並將所接收到的影音串流轉換為符合HDMI規格的影音訊號後,透過HDMI接頭140傳送到電視102進行播放。此外,電視盒110本身有時亦會需要透過無線網路模組120來將封包傳遞至外部的電子裝置。本實施例中,由於電視盒100是透過電流量較低的USB接頭150來進行供電,再加上處理器110以及無線網路模組120都是很耗電的元件,因此,為了避免USB接頭150所能提供的電流量低於電視盒100的消耗量,處理器110以及無線網路模組120會透過本發明所述的控制方法以避免同時處於高耗能的狀態。具體來說,由於無線網路模組120在需要傳送/廣播封包時會具有較高的功率消耗,因此,在無線網路模組120傳送封包的過程中處理器110會降低所使用之一時脈訊號CLK的頻率,及/或通知電源供應電路130降低所提供之供應電壓VDD的準位,以避免處理器110以及無線網路模組120同時處於高耗能的狀態。
詳細來說,當處理器110中的無線網路驅動程式116需要透過無線網路模組120傳送該封包時,無線網路驅動程式116會先透過應用程式介面(Application Programming Interface,API)來通知控制單元112降低所使用之時脈訊號CLK的頻率。在另一實施例中,控制單元112亦可通知電源供應電路130以降低供應電壓VDD的準位。在時脈訊號CLK的頻率降低、及/或供應電壓VDD的準位降低之後,控制單元112會設定一計時器114以設定一預設時間,之後無線網路驅動程式116透過無線網路模組120開始傳送一或多個封包至外部的電子裝置,其中該預設時間係用來表示該一或多個封包的傳送時間。當計時器114所設定的預設時間逾時,代表著無線網路模組120的封包已經傳送結束,此時控制單元112提升所使用之時脈訊號CLK的頻率(例如,回復到原本的頻率),及/或通知電源供應電路130以提升供應電壓VDD的準位(例如,回復到原本的準位)。
第2圖為根據本發明一實施例之應用在電視盒100的控制方法的流程圖,同時參考第1、2圖的內容,控制方法的流程如下所述。
步驟S200:流程開始。
步驟S202:處理器110判斷無線網路模組120是否需要傳送封包以產生一判斷結果,若該判斷結果指出有封包要傳送,流程進入步驟S204;若沒有封包需要傳送,則流程停在步驟S202。
步驟S204:降低處理器110所使用之時脈訊號CLK的頻率,及/或降低處理器110的供應電壓VDD。
步驟S206:判斷時脈訊號CLK是否降至適當的頻率、及/或供應電壓VDD是否降至適當的準位,若是,流程進入步驟S210;若否,流程回到步驟S206。
步驟S208:等待一時間,並回到步驟S206。
步驟S210:設定計時器114。
步驟S212:無線網路模組120開始進行封包傳輸。
步驟S214:判斷無線網路模組120是否有其他的封包需要傳輸,若是,流程進入步驟S216;若否,流程進入步驟S218。
步驟S216:重新設定計時器114。
步驟S218:判斷計時器114所設定的時間是否逾時,若是,流程進入步驟S222;若否,流程進入步驟S220。
步驟S220:等待計時器114所設定的時間逾時。
步驟S222:提升處理器110所使用之時脈訊號CLK的頻率,及/或提升處理器110的供應電壓VDD。
需注意的是,在第1、2圖所示的實施例中係以電視盒100為例來進行說明,但此一特徵並非是本發明的限制。只要是任何具有處理器以及無線網路模組的電子裝置,且此電子裝置所接收的電源具有較低的電流量,本發明之控制方法可以應用在其他適合的電子裝置中。
在第1圖所示的實施例中,電視盒100係使用USB接頭150來接收來自電視102的直流電壓,然而,此一特徵並非是本發明的限制。只要電視盒100所接收的電源具有較低的電流量,例如較低規格的電源供應器,USB接頭150亦可以被替換為其他的電源接頭。
簡要歸納本發明,在本發明之應用在電子裝置的控制方法中,透過在封包傳輸的過程中降低處理器所使用之時脈訊號的頻率、及/或降低處理器之供應電壓的準位,可以避免處理器與無線網路模組同時處於高耗能的狀態(亦即,同時具有高電流),以使得電子裝置可以使用具有較低的電流量的電源,以降低製造成本。 以上所述僅為本發明之較佳實施例,凡依本發明申請專利範圍所做之均等變化與修飾,皆應屬本發明之涵蓋範圍。

Claims (10)

  1. 一種應用在一電子裝置的控制方法,其中該電子裝置包含了一處理器以及一無線網路模組,且該控制方法包含有: 根據該無線網路模組是否需要傳送一封包以產生一判斷結果;以及 當該判斷結果指出該無線網路模組需要傳送該封包時,在該封包傳輸的過程中降低該處理器所使用之一時脈訊號的頻率。
  2. 如申請專利範圍第1項所述之控制方法,另包含有: 當該判斷結果指出該無線網路模組需要傳送該封包時,在該封包傳輸的過程中降低該處理器的一供應電壓。
  3. 如申請專利範圍第1項所述之控制方法,其中在該封包傳輸的過程中降低該處理器所使用之該時脈訊號的頻率的步驟包含有: 當該判斷結果指出該無線網路模組需要傳送該封包時,降低該處理器所使用之該時脈訊號的頻率; 設定一計時器,並開始控制該無線網路模組傳送該封包; 當該計時器所設定的時間逾時,提升該處理器所使用之該時脈訊號的頻率。
  4. 如申請專利範圍第1項所述之控制方法,其中該電子裝置為一電視盒。
  5. 一種電子裝置,包含有: 一處理器;以及 一無線網路模組,被設置成可透過無線方式傳送至少一封包; 其中當該處理器得知該無線網路模組要進行無線傳輸時,在該無線網路模組傳送一封包的過程中該處理器降低所使用之一時脈訊號的頻率。
  6. 如申請專利範圍第5項所述之電子裝置,另包含有: 一電源供應電路,用以提供一供應電壓至該處理器; 其中當該無線網路模組傳送該封包時,在該封包傳輸的過程中該處理器通知該電源供應電路以降低該供應電壓的準位。
  7. 如申請專利範圍第5項所述之電子裝置,其中當該無線網路模組需要傳送該封包時,該處理器先降低所使用之該時脈訊號的頻率,之後再設定一計時器,並開始通知該無線網路模組傳送該封包;以及當該計時器所設定的時間逾時,該處理器提升所使用之該時脈訊號的頻率。
  8. 如申請專利範圍第5項所述之電子裝置,其中該電子裝置為一電視盒,且該電子裝置係透過一通用序列匯流排(Universal Serial Bus,USB)接頭來接收對該電子裝置進行供電的一供應電壓。
  9. 一種設置在電子裝置內的處理器,其中該處理器係耦接於一無線網路模組,以及當該無線網路模組需要傳送一封包時,該處理器先降低所使用之一時脈訊號的頻率,之後再設定一計時器,並開始通知該無線網路模組傳送該封包;以及當該計時器所設定的時間逾時,該處理器提升所使用之該時脈訊號的頻率。
  10. 如申請專利範圍第9項所述之處理器,其中當該無線網路模組需要傳送該封包時,在該封包傳輸的過程中該處理器通知一電源供應電路以降低提供給該處理器之一供應電壓的準位。
