Abstract
This invention provides a method of determining MB (macroblock) skip mode of encoder suitable for an H.264 encoder to perform hardware implementation of compression. The method comprises: first, choosing two images of close times points to perform integer motion estimation (IME) to calculate a motion vector and calculating the prediction vector of the image of the earlier time point; if the motion vector is equal to the prediction vector, altering the cost function of the motion vector to be a negative value; performing cost comparison on the block coding, and when an inter-frame mode cost is less than an intra-frame mode cost, setting an MB skip flag as 1; and using weight entropy to compress the MB skip flag and not to compress the MB represented by the MB skip flag.
