Abstract
An electronic device capable of turning off a built-in USB hub to lower electric power consumption is provided. The electronic device comprises (1) a main function module, and (2) a connector for connecting an external USB device. When no external USB device is coupled to the connector, no electric power is supplied to the USB hub, and the main function module communicates with the host device through a bypass path. When an external USB device is coupled to the connector, the electric power supplied to the USB hub is restored, and the main function module and the external USB device both communicate with the host device through the activated USB hub.
