Abstract

A mounting assembly includes a first bracket, a second bracket, and a fastening apparatus. The first bracket includes a first sliding bar. The second bracket includes a first sliding rail moving along with the first slide bar. The first bracket defines a sliding groove extending along a direction parallel to the first sliding bar. The second bracket defines a through hole aligning with the sliding groove. The fastening apparatus includes a fastening member and a fixing member. The fastening member extends through the sliding groove of the first bracket and the though hole of the second bracket, to fasten the fixing member for assembling the first and second brackets.

Installation component

The present invention relates to a mounting assembly, and more particularly to a mounting assembly that can be used with different types of chassis.

Some of the electronic components of the server, such as the motherboard, power supply, and hard disk drive, are typically mounted to a mounting assembly (SLED) and are removably mounted within the chassis by the mounting assembly. However, the conventional mounting components are fixed in size and can only be used for a specific model of the chassis, and are not versatile.

In view of the above, it is necessary to provide an adjustable size mounting assembly.

A mounting assembly includes a first frame body, a second frame body and a locking assembly, the first frame body includes a first guide bar, and the second frame body includes a first guide bar The first sliding frame is provided with a sliding slot along the sliding direction of the first sliding rail, and the second frame defines a through hole for the sliding slot. Referring to FIG. 1 , the mounting assembly 100 of the present invention is used to accommodate electronic components such as a motherboard, a power supply, and a hard disk drive, and is removably mounted in the chassis. The mounting assembly 100 includes a first frame 20 , a second frame 40 , and a locking assembly 60 .

The first frame body 20 includes a square first bottom wall 22 , two first side walls 24 extending vertically upward from opposite sides of the first bottom wall 22 , and upwardly extending from one end of the first bottom wall 22 and connected A first end wall 26 of the two first side walls 24. The first bottom wall 22 , the first side wall 24 and the first end wall 26 together define a receiving space 28 . The second frame 40 includes a square second bottom wall 42 , two second side walls 44 extending vertically upward from opposite sides of the second bottom wall 42 , and extending vertically upward from one end of the second bottom wall 42 . A second end wall 46 is coupled to the two second side walls 44. The second bottom wall 42 , the second side wall 44 , and the second end wall 46 together define a receiving space 48 . A first sliding rail 422 is protruded inwardly from a middle portion of the second bottom wall 42 away from the second end wall 46. The first sliding rail 422 extends along the length of the second bottom wall 42. Each of the second side walls 44 protrudes inwardly from the end of the second end wall 46 to form an L-shaped second sliding rail 442 parallel to the first sliding rail 422. A through hole 424 is defined in a top of the first sliding rail 422 at an end away from the second end wall 46.

Referring to FIG. 2 , the locking assembly 60 includes a locking member 62 , a fixing member 64 , a resilient washer 66 and a limiting pin 68 . In the embodiment, the locking member 62 is a screw. The locking member 62 includes a head portion 622 and a screw 624. The screw 624 defines a positioning hole 626 in a radial direction at an end away from the head portion 622. The fixing member 64 includes a nut 642 that cooperates with the screw 624 and two operating pieces 644 that are oppositely protruded from the outside of the nut 642. The washer 66 includes an annular body 662 and a plurality of resilient legs 664 extending obliquely downwardly in a radial direction.

Referring to FIG. 3 , when the mounting assembly 100 is assembled, the second frame 40 is inserted into the receiving space 28 of the first frame 20 . The first guide bar 222 of the first frame 20 is slidably received in the first slide rail 422 of the second frame 40 . The inner side of the second guide rail 242 of the first frame body 20 is slid along the outer side of the second slide rail 442 of the second frame body 40. The through hole 424 of the second frame 40 faces the sliding groove 224 of the first frame 20 . The screw 624 of the locking member 62 passes through the sliding slot 224 and the through hole 424 of the second frame 40 in order from bottom to top. The washer 66 is sleeved on the screw 624. Screwing the nut 642 onto the screw 624 causes the leg 664 to abut the first rail 422. The head 622 abuts against the bottom surface of the first guide bar 222 of the first frame 20 . The limiting pin 68 is inserted into the positioning hole 626 of the screw 624, and the portion of the limiting pin 68 outside the positioning hole 626 is bent to prevent the limiting pin 68 from being withdrawn. In other embodiments, the washer 66 may not be provided, and the bottom end of the nut 642 directly abuts against the top surface of the first slide rail 422.

Referring to FIG. 4, when it is necessary to change the length of the mounting assembly 100, the operating piece 644 is operated, and the rotating fixing member 64 to the washer 66 no longer presses the first sliding rail 422 so that the second frame 40 can be opposite to the first frame 20. Slide it to the appropriate position and tighten the nut 642 to facilitate installation of different electronics and mounting in different models of the chassis.

In other embodiments, the sliding slot 224 can be directly opened in the first bottom wall 22 away from the first end wall 26 and extend in a direction parallel to the second guiding strip 242. The through hole 424 is opened in the second bottom wall. 42 is away from the second end wall 46. Therefore, the first guide bar 222 and the first slide rail 422 can be omitted.

In other embodiments, the first frame 20 may only be provided with the first guide bar 222, and the second frame 40 may only be provided with the first slide rail 422.
