Abstract
一種超亮背光液晶視訊顯示器包含一外殼,該外殼容置一光源諸如一或更多LED。一準直透鏡接收實質上所有該光源產生的光,並導引此光通過一偏光器。該偏光器的輸出被送至一LCD面板,該LCD面板具有一像素陣列,其可被動態控制以容許光通過預定像素。該LCD面板的輸出通過一擴散器以形成一視訊影像螢幕。

本申請案請求於2012年1月9日提申之美國臨時申請案號61/584,481之優先權。
本發明係有關於一種超亮背光液晶視訊顯示器。
室外視訊顯示器普遍使用發光二極體(LED),LED在犠牲解析度的情況下提供亮度。不過,傳統及室外液晶顯示器通常不如所欲般亮,所提供的亮度僅在約400至1200平方公尺燭光(也稱為“尼特”)的範圍內。
因此希望提供一可提供更大亮度但仍使用LED的顯示器單元,例如一視訊立方體(video cube)。
一種超亮背光液晶視訊顯示器包含一外殼,該外殼容置一光源諸如一或更多LED。一準直透鏡接收實質上所有該光源產生的光,並導引此光通過一偏光器。該偏光器的輸出被送至一LCD面板,該LCD面板具有一像素陣
列,其可被動態控制以容許光通過預定像素。該LCD面板的輸出通過一擴散器以形成一視訊影像螢幕。
可擇地,一再利用環可在該視訊顯示器外殼內繞該LED定位以捕捉更多光。或者,一拋物線反射器可繞該LED定位以捕捉更多光。如果需要,一額外的透鏡可被定位在該光源及準直透鏡之間。
在另一實施例中,一具有一反射內部表面的光隧道被提供在該準直透鏡及該螢幕之間。
一或更多光感測器可被定位在該外殼內,而控制電路利用該等光感測器之輸出及一外部校準感測器,可用來調整影像顏色及均勻度。
可使用多數個光源,尤其是當需要用於較大的螢幕時。而且,可堆疊多數個視訊顯示器以形成一視訊牆。在任一例中,該控制電路係與該等感測器一起使用以調整影像顏色及強度使得該螢幕顯示均勻。

圖1顯示一具有一外殼12之視訊顯示器10的一第一實施例。一光源,較佳地為一發光二極體(LED)14,係被固定在該外殼12內的一第一開放室15,且藉由一電源供應器(未示)供給能量。從該LED發出的光16藉由一封閉該室15之透鏡18而被準直。使該準直光20通過一可為吸收性或反射性之偏光器22。當使用一反射偏光器時,未通過該偏光器22的光會被反射回到該LED而被再利用,藉此可增加該系統的輸出。
然後使該偏振光通過一LCD面板24及一第二偏光器26(分析器),此可容許來自該LCD面板24上之調變像素的光通過且被看見。
來自該第二偏光器26的輸出會具有一狹窄散度及一極狹窄視角。為了產生一更寬廣的視角,使該光通過一擴散器28。該螢幕的亮度係取決於該光源的電力。在圖1實例中,該透鏡18、偏光器22及26、LCD面板24以及擴散器28皆被容置在該外殼12內,且藉由一氣隙相互間隔。
LED以極大角度發光,因此難以收集光輸出。圖2顯示一替代實施例,其中該視訊顯示器包含一於該外殼內在該LED14及該準直透鏡18之間的再利用環30,其具有一內部反射表面31。在圖2實施例中,從該LED14發出的光為低角度,其會直接被發射至該透鏡18,而具有一高於預定角度之發射角的光束32會自該再利用環內表面32反射回來朝向該LED14。因此,所有的該等高角度光束32會被再利用。
在大部分應用中,準直透鏡、偏光器、LCD面板及螢幕為矩形的。因此,光自視訊顯示器10、10a離開的孔隙應該為矩形形狀以與螢幕相配。
在圖3之實施例中,並非具有一在該外殼內部15內之再利用環30及一收集所有的光之準直透鏡18,而是有一拋物面反射器34圍繞該LED14以收集高角度光束並將其準直。一較小的準直透鏡36設置在該室12,且其中心在該顯示器的軸38上,以僅捕捉及準直小角度光束40。該等較高角度光束32在被該拋物面反射器34準直後會穿透至該透鏡36的外部並朝向該偏光器22。圖3所示之組配在藉由該準直透鏡準直後可提供一高輸出,但卻具有較高散度。較高
散度會造成LCD顯示器有較低的對比度。
在圖4之實施例中,該視訊顯示器10b包括一安裝在該LED14上方的圓頂透鏡42,其可改善該系統的效率。可擇地,一透鏡44可位於該室12內以使來自該圓頂的光可有效率地被耦合至該準直透鏡18。
圖5顯示一包括一光源14及一螢幕50之顯示器模組10c,其包括一準直透鏡,一具有偏光器之LCD、擴散器、反射器等。該模組10c也包括有光感測器52及控制電路54在該內部或該外殼內。該控制電路54含有有關光源的強度、各種顏色的強度以及螢幕上光照明的均勻度的資訊,使得該輸入影像信號可被調整以提供所欲的影像顏色及均勻度。
圖6顯示一LCD視訊顯示器的一替代實施例的一部分。一在該準直透鏡18及偏光器22或LCD面板24之間的中空室60係完全封閉在一反射牆62內,可產生一較高的照明均勻度。
圖7顯示一具有該LCD及一矩形螢幕54之LCD視訊顯示器10的一透視圖。
圖8顯示一視訊牆64,其由一2x2組配之堆疊的視訊顯示器10所形成。
圖9顯示一視訊顯示器10,其包含一連接至一外部校準感測器模組70的控制電路54。該控制電路接收該等來自該外部感測器模組70及圖5所示之內部感測器52的輸入信號。使用測試影像,使得強度、顏色及若有任何扭曲
可被該校準感測器模組70檢測,且該等調整參數係被傳送及儲存在該控制電路54。當多數個單元放置在一起成一視訊牆時,此尤顯重要。
圖10顯示一包含多數個光源14之LCD視訊顯示器10d,其等可被用來照明較大的LCD面板。例如,一個10"對角線的顯示器可由一單一LED光源供電。一個60"對角線的顯示器較佳地係由9個在該內部室12內以3x3組配相間隔的LED光源所供電。欲取代單一準直透鏡18時,較佳地為將一分離的準直透鏡18a、18b及18c與各光源14一起使用。
由於該等光源14之各者會有略微不同的強度及顏色,故利用該控制電路54將來自該等感測器的輸入用來做調整。此外,也可利用該校準感測器模組70,如圖9所示,使得大螢幕尺寸具有均勻的強度及顏色。圖6所示之在該準直透鏡18及該螢幕之間形成一光隧道的該反射器室60及牆62也可用在此實施例中。
該準直透鏡可為一玻璃透鏡、一塑膠透鏡或菲涅耳(Fresnel)透鏡。該光源14雖然較佳地為一LED,但可以一弧光燈、微波燈或鹵素燈取代。該校準模組70包括一數位相機及一分析用電腦,該電腦係被連接至該控制電路54並提供調整參數。該等調整參數係被儲存在該控制電路記憶體中。

Claims (10)
- 一種超亮背光液晶視訊顯示器,其包含:一外殼,其具有一容置一光源的中空室;一準直透鏡,其被容置在該外殼中以接收實質上所有由該光源產生的光;一偏光器,其以接收實質上所有通過該準直透鏡的光之方式耦接至該準直透鏡;一液晶顯示器(LCD)面板,其以接收實質上所有通過該偏光器的光之方式耦接至該偏光器,該LCD面板具有一像素陣列,其可被動態控制以容許光通過預定像素;以及一擴散器,其以接收實質上所有通過該LCD面板的光及形成一視訊影像螢幕之方式耦接至該LCD面板。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項之視訊顯示器,其更包含一在該視訊顯示器外殼內繞該發光二極體(LED)定位以捕捉更多光之再利用環。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項之視訊顯示器,其更包含一拋物線反射器,其可繞該LED定位以捕捉更多光。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項之視訊顯示器,其包含定位在該光源及準直透鏡之間的一額外的透鏡。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項之視訊顯示器,其更包含一具有一反射內部表面且定位在該準直透鏡及該螢幕之間的光隧道。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項之視訊顯示器,其中該外殼容置有一或更多光感測器及控制電路,該控制電路利用該等光感測器之輸出及一外部校準感測器來調整影像顏色及均勻度。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項之視訊顯示器,其中該外殼容置有多數個光源,且其包含控制電路,該控制電路利用內部及外部感測器來調整該螢幕顯示使得影像顏色及強度均勻。
- 如申請專利範圍第7項之視訊顯示器,其包含針對各光源之分離的準直透鏡。
- 一種視訊牆,其包含多數個堆疊的如申請專利範圍第1項所述之視訊顯示器。
- 如申請專利範圍第9項所述之視訊牆,其更包含控制電路,該控制電路利用內部及外部感測器來調整影像顏色及強度使得該視訊牆的螢幕顯示均勻。
