Abstract

Provided is a garment including hosiery which avoids the needs for a conventional waistband by providing a graduated compression panty where the compression is gradually increased from the bottom of the panty where leg portions are attached to the top of the panty which corresponds approximately with the waist of the wearer.

Description

Knitwear with gradually compressed hip cover

The present invention relates to a knitwear garment having a hip cover that is specifically designed for comfortable wear and that has no ordinary waistband.

The main function of the belt is to fix the garment. For the purpose of the knitwear, a narrow band is knitted with a strong elastic yarn on the top of the hip covering region. The conventional waistband may comprise an elastic band or a woven-type welt as described in U.S. Patent No. 6,276,176. All of these configurations typically form a narrow, highly compressed band at the waist. Knitwear of this type of conventional waistband is generally not suitable for wear due to high compression, positioning in a small area. Another disadvantage of this type of construction is the flipping of the belt.

There is a need for a garment construction for knitwear that does not have a conventional waistband and is suitable for wear. Although there is no ordinary belt, the garment should not slide down and the top of the hip cover area should not be flipped.

In one aspect, the knitwear having the leg and hip cover portions excludes the conventional waistband, which is replaced by a specially designed, gradually compressed hip cover. Compression is gradually increased from the bottom leg of the leg portion of the hip covering portion to the top portion of the hip covering portion corresponding to the waist of the wearer, but may fall below the waist, fall there, or fall thereon. The gradually compressed hip cover is selected from the group consisting of a single layer structure, a two layer structure, and a partial two layer structure. The hip cover portion comprises a single layer, a double layer or a partial double layer comprising a gradual compression that provides sufficient compression to secure the garment while preventing the flipping pattern.

As used herein, the term "spandex" means a processed filament wherein the filament formed substrate is a long chain synthetic polymer containing at least 85% by weight of the segmented polyurethane. A variety of different spandex compositions are available for some aspects of hip wrap knitwear, such as polyether based polyethers and copolyethers. Specific examples of commercially available spandex yarns include those available from INVISTA S.àr.l. of Wichita, KS under the trademarks LYCRA® 162B, LYCRA® 163C, LYCRA® 163A, LYCRA® 178, C LYCRA® 902C, and LYCRA® 777C ( In particular, there are yarns for sale in reverse-drawing knitwear.

The terms "hiptyhose" and "hosiery" are used interchangeably throughout this specification and are intended to include garments having at least a portion of a cylindrical fabric construction and comprising a hip covering portion. The cover portion will typically fall from around the wearer's waist to the ankle but may extend to the upper thigh of the wearer.

The hip-wrap knitwear may comprise any suitable combination of elastic or elastomeric yarns having a hard yarn. Elastic or elastomeric yarns may be included in each weft row or in alternating weft rows (other configurations may be useful when it is desired to color knitwear). A suitable elastomeric yarn is a spandex that can be used or coated. The coating may be single or double coated, gas coated, air expanded, entangled, cored, and the like.

Examples of hard yarns include polyamide yarns such as nylon 6, nylon 6/6 (PA 66), nylon 10, nylon 12, nylon 6/10, nylon 6/12, and combinations thereof. The hard yarn is flat or puffed. The buttock knit fabric may comprise a yarn selected from the group consisting of polyamide coated nylon yarns and polyamidamine coated spandex blend yarns having polyamide yarns.

The gradual compression of the hip cover can be accomplished by using a yarn that changes and increases the linear density (Texas) during knitting and by changing and/or increasing the yarn tension. One of the means for measuring and controlling the tension of the yarn is a constant tension yarn feeder (KTF) available from BTSR International S.p.A., Italy.

A suitable amount of spandex fibers can comprise from about 10% to about 30% by total yarn weight, including from about 12% to about 26%; and from about 15% to about 22%.

The gradually compressing hip cover is selected from the group consisting of a single layer structure, a full double layer structure, and a partial double layer structure. Each of these configurations excludes a belt that is attributed to the progressive structure rather than the base. The gradual compression is provided by a series of compressions having different levels from the zone closest to the bottom (leg attachment area) to the top (waist zone). In the final configuration of the garment, the top of the hip cover will have the highest level of compression. An appropriate number of zones may be included, from about 2 to 10 zones of different compression levels, such as from about 3 to 5 zones. This contains 3 different compression zones.

The compression of the different zones can vary by any suitable amount to provide the desired comfort while maintaining the ability to hold the hip cover portion in place on the wearer. The increased compression can be from about 2 times to about 20 times from the bottom to the top region. This includes from about 3 times to about 10 times, and more about 4 times to about 9 times, depending on the total compression level of the buttocks.

The percentage of the number of latitudes in each zone depends on the desired gradual compression and the total number of zones. When the three zones are present, the bottom zone may comprise from about 10% to about 50% of the total number of wefts in the buttocks, which comprises from about 15% to about 40% and from about 20% to about 30%, and About 15% to about 25%.

Three different configurations are described in further detail below:

Full double hip cover:

In this configuration, the double layer is woven into the hip cover region over the full length of the hip cover. This double layer can be provided by weaving into individual layers. The double hip cover can also be prepared by knit a single layer and then folding it up and sewing it. This is accomplished by knitting from the point of attachment of the leg to the point of highest compression to increase compression and then reduce the compression to the top layer. The top is folded up to conform to the leg attachment portion such that at the highest compression point a crease will be formed that approximately corresponds to the waist of the wearer. Upon completion, there is sufficient compression in the top of the hip covering (approximately corresponding to the wearer's waist) to secure the garment and prevent the garment from slipping; the compression in the hip covering region is by the bottom of the hip covering (The leg attachment part) is increased to the top area (waist). The increase in compression is achieved by a combination of yarn selection and knitting machine settings such as elastic yarn tension and stitch length.

Partial double layer:

Alternatively, similar to that used for the full double layer above, the double layer is woven only on top of the hip cover region. However, the area of this double layer is significantly larger than the standard (double layer) belt (which is a normal belt). The partial bilayer may be from about 10% to about 50% of the total number of wefts in the gluteal portion, including from about 15% to about 40% and from about 20% to about 30%. Also in this configuration, the compression in the hip cover region is increased from the bottom row to the top region of the hip cover to provide sufficient compression in the top portion of the hip cover for securing the garment and preventing the garment from slipping. The increase in compression is achieved by a combination of yarn selection and knitting machine settings such as elastic yarn tension and stitch length.

Single layer

Another alternative is a single layer of gradually compressed hip cover. This includes gradual compression The buttocks have a lower compression at the bottom of the buttocks (the leg attachment area) and a higher compression at the top (waist region). This configuration includes a plurality of zones similar to a full double layer and a partial double hip profile configuration while also avoiding the need for a conventional waistband (i.e., a narrower band with a higher compression at the top of the hip cover). The increase in compression is achieved by a combination of yarn selection and knitting machine settings such as elastic yarn tension and stitch length.

The legs may comprise yarns having the same denier (line density), lighter denier or heavier denier than the yarns in the hip cover portion. The legs (left and right) may have a configuration selected from the group consisting of transparent, translucent, and opaque. In order to further enhance comfort and reduce soreness during wear, the legs may each comprise an upper thigh, wherein the upper thigh comprises a reinforcing yarn.

The configuration of the legs can be any of those well known in the art. These include full coverage from the hip cover to the toe, exposure of the leg toe, leg length, knee length or any other desired length for the leg.

The features and advantages of the present invention are more fully shown by the following examples, which are not intended to limit the invention.

Instance testing method

The wear effect (comfort, fixation and flipping) was evaluated by a wear test of 14 participants. The force of each zone was measured on an Instron, which was 5 cm wide for the sample.

In the garment construction for the hip-covered knitwear in the table, each of Zone 1 and Zone 1a, Zone 2 and Zone 2a and Zone 3 and Zone 3a are adjacent. The buttress yarn was used for Example A: 20 dtex LYCRA® T777C fiber, SC 11f7 PA 66 flat EC; for Examples B, C, E and F: 45dtex LYCRA® T902C fiber, SC18/6 text. AC with 24/11/2 text. Each wearer reported that the knitwear was comfortable to avoid when flipping.

Example 1 for full double layer

Wrap a 16 dtex LYCRA® T178C fiber and 11f/7 in a standard process PA66. Each composite woven fabric is woven into the composite yarn. Gradual compression is achieved by changing the number of knits in each zone and the number of knit rows.

Example 2 for full double layer

A 13 dtex LYCRA® T163A fiber and 11f/7 PA66 are coated in a standard process. Each composite woven fabric is woven into the composite yarn. Gradual compression is achieved by changing the number of knits in each zone and the number of knit rows.

Example for full double layer

A 13 dtex T163C and 17 dtex LYCRA® T175C and 11f/7 PA66 are coated in a standard process. Each weft knit fabric was woven into a top layer with a covered yarn of 13 dtex, and each weft knit was placed with a covered yarn of 17 dtex in the middle and bottom layers. Gradual compression is achieved by changing the number of knits in each zone and the number of knit rows.
