Abstract

Lid assemblies are provided that have a lid connected to a base by a connection assembly allowing the lid to be opened and closed. A driving device drives the connection assembly to open and close the lid automatically. A lock assembly allows the lid to be operated manually without turning the driving device. Connection members engage the lid so that the top surface of the lid faces towards the user when automatically opened and the bottom surface of the lid faces the user when manually opened.

INSTRUCTIONS OF THE INVENTION: TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention generally relates to a cover assembly that includes a base, a cover, and a connection assembly for attaching the cover to the base. More particularly, the present invention relates to a cover assembly for a toilet or bidet that advantageously exhibits maximum opening and closing flexibility, thereby allowing automatic or manual opening of the toilet or bidet. The cover is such that when opened, the top or bottom of the cover faces inwardly toward the user. [Prior Art] The cover assembly has desirable features such as flexibility for automatic or manual operation and positioning of the top or bottom side of the cover to be flexible toward the user when opened. Despite the attractiveness of the cover assembly, there are still many aspects that can be sought for improvement. For example, it is desirable to allow the user to automatically and manually open and close the cover by a locking mechanism that facilitates automatic operation of the cover and an unlocking mechanism that facilitates manual operation of the cover while protecting the drive device from damage. It is also desirable to have a connection assembly that allows the user to view the entire top or entire bottom side of the cover when the cover is opened. In general, there is a need to improve the cover assembly and overcome the deficiencies of the prior art. Prior art methods include U.S. Patent No. 1342,505. This patent is directed to a toilet cover that is hinged such that the cover pivots when opened and the top side of the cover acts as a backrest to the user. The cover is manually (4) by lifting the handle, and the hand is placed to ensure that the top side is always facing the user. When the user's weight is lifted off the seat, the cover falls back to the closed position. U.S. Patent No. 1,398,556 describes a toilet seat opened by pressing a pressure bar 152094.doc 201218994. The weight of the user on the pressure bar maintains the lid in the open position. When the weight of the user is removed, the cover falls back to the closed position. This patent discloses another embodiment in which the bottom side of the toilet lid body faces one of the user's embodiments and the top side of the toilet lid body toward the user. U.S. Patent No. 2,219,044 is directed to a toilet seat that is automatically operated by depressing a lever or pushing a button. The motor drives the cover to the open position to bring the top side of the cover toward the user. The lifting rod and the control rod are both connected to the cover body and connected to the base body. This patent describes the fully automated operation of both opening and closing of the cover. U.S. Patent Application Publication No. 2006/0005309 is directed to a toilet body that can be manually operated by a handle, manually operated by a foot pedal, or automatically operated by a motor. When opened, the bottom side of the toilet lid body faces the user. This patent application discloses that a dual system is an option. Other prior art techniques include the following techniques. International Patent Application Publication No. WO/2008/0293 88 relates to a toilet cover that is automatically operated by an electric actuating mechanism. The clutch system selectively disengages the actuating mechanism to allow manual operation of the cover without motor rotation. When opened, the bottom side of the cover faces the user. Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. Hei. No. 5-955-2 describes a toilet seat that can be automatically opened and closed. The cover includes two separate parts that are hinged together. When the lid is raised, the front portion of the lid is folded downwards so that the top side of the front portion of the lid faces the user. In accordance with the present invention, various features of prior art, such as such patents and patent applications, have been determined to have disadvantages and undesirable attributes, results or effects. The present invention δ suffers from problems such as these and solves such problems to provide enhancements that have not been available to date. In general, the present invention more fully satisfies the following 152094.doc 201218994 needs to allow the user to open or close the lid automatically or manually, to bring the top side of the lid to the user when the lid is automatically opened, and manually in the lid When opening, the bottom side of the cover body is directed to the user, and the locking assembly is provided to allow the manual operation of the cover body without deteriorating the drive member. Further, the present invention provides a plurality of connecting members between the base body and the cover body, The connecting members have pivot points that allow the user to easily operate the cover automatically or manually. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION One aspect or embodiment of the present invention is directed to an improved cover assembly that includes a base, a cover, and a connection assembly for attaching the cover to the base. The present invention includes a plurality of connecting members each having a connection point with both the cover and the base to allow rotational operation of the cover. One of the connecting members pivots within the pivot member while the other connecting member slides in a path. Carcass 4. The lock assembly in the middle 5. The first cover portion can be selectively limited. 152094.doc •11· 201218994 88. For example, in the locked position, the locking assembly 5〇 limits the first cover portion 88' to prevent the first cover portion 88 from sliding within the path 46 toward the blocking member 49. In the unlocked position, the locking assembly 50 does not limit the first cover portion 88, thereby allowing the first cover portion 88 to slide within the path 46 toward the blocking member. Figure 18 and Figure 18 illustrate another embodiment of a cover assembly generally designated 320. The cover assembly 320 includes a connection assembly 180 that includes a plurality of connection members, such as a first connection member 182 and a second connection member 184. The first connecting member 182 and the second connecting member 184 are made of any industry standard material such as metal, plastic or composite material. The first pivot member 64 pivotally couples the first base portion 186 of the first connecting member 182 to the third pivot member 148 on the base 60 » the cover 140. The first cover portion 192 of the first connecting member 182 It is pivotally connected to the cover 14〇. The second pivot member 66 pivotally connects the second base portion 190 of the second connecting member 184 to the base 60. A path 146 in the cover 140 slidably receives the second cover portion 188 of the second connecting member 184. The first blocking member 147 limits the second cover portion 188 from sliding past the first position 151 in the path bore 46. The locking assembly 5 〇 selectively limits the sliding of the second cover portion 丨 88 toward the second blocking member 149 located at the second position 153 in the path 146. Figure 19 illustrates another embodiment of a connection assembly generally designated 280. The coupling assembly 280 has a first connecting member 282 coupled to the first pivot member 64 and the fourth pivot member 68, and a second connecting member 84 coupled to the second and third pivot members 66, 48. The first attachment member 282 has a first base portion 152094.doc • 12· 201218994 290 that telescopically engages in a path 246 on the first cover portion 288. Alternatively, the second connecting member 84 can be a telescoping member having a path 246 or both the first and second connecting members 282, 84 can be telescopic members having a path 246. Path 246 may optionally include a locking assembly 5〇. The cover assembly 20 allows the user to manually open and close the cover 4〇. The user pulls the grip member 52 outwardly to manually open the cover 40 to the first open position, wherein the first surface 4.2 faces the space 28 ^ the pulling force on the grip member 52 causes the cover 40 to rise and rotate around the third pivot The axis of the shaft member 48 rotates. The first cover portion 88 is forced against the first blocking member 47 to restrict the first cover portion 88 from sliding further away from the second blocking member 49. The user pulls the cover member 4 to manually cover the cover portion 40 is opened to a second open position, wherein the first surface 42 faces away from the space 28 and the second surface 44 faces the space ". For example, the user can generally consider the portion of the cover from the maximum of the base. Lift up to the extent. The tension on this portion of the cover 40 causes the cover 4 to rise, but does not substantially rotate about the axis of the third pivot member 48. When the cover buckle is opened to the second open position, the first cover portion (10) slides with the second blocking member 49 at the path toward the second position 53. When the first cover portion μ is restricted by the second blocking member 49 and cannot be moved further away from the first position 51, the cover 40 will be prevented from being further opened. The # of the carcass 40 can be automated by including the drive device cover assembly 120. During the automatic operation of the cover assembly 120, after receiving a first signal from an activation device (not shown) such as a button, switch, lever or sensor, the driver is activated. . The driving device 30 drives the connection assembly to rotate the first connecting member 82 about the drawing of the first shaft member 并使 and rotate the first connecting member 84 about the axis of the second drag member 152094.doc •13· 201218994. The first cover portion 88 is restrained by the first blocking member 47 and cannot slide further away from the second blocking member 49 in the path 46. The cover 4 is rotated with the first connecting member 82 and the second connecting member 84. Rotating about the axis of the third pivot member 48 in the opposite direction. In the first open position, the first surface 42 of the cover 4 faces the space 28 outside the opening of the device, such as a user facing the toilet 25. When the cover 40 is automatically opened, the user can, for example, sit on the toilet 25 and lean back on the relatively clean first surface 42. To automatically close the cover 40, the drive device 30 receives the second signal. Thereafter, it is activated, and is reversely opened to rotate the first connecting member 82 and the second connecting member 84 respectively in a direction opposite to the direction in which the opening is rotated. The cover 4 is rotated in a direction opposite to the opening direction thereof, thereby making the cover Body 4〇 returns to Its original closed position, in which the 'first surface 42 faces the space 28 located outside of the covered device (such as above the toilet 25). The cover 40 can also be manually raised and lowered. To manually open the cover 40 'The user touches a portion of the cover 4 and applies a force on the cover 40 in the outward direction from the device. For example, 'the user holds the front of the toilet cover 4 and is away from the toilet 25 The direction is upwardly raised. The first connecting member 82 rotates about the axis of the first pivot member 64, and the second connecting member 84 rotates about the axis of the second pivot member 66. The first cover portion 88 faces the first The position 53 slides 'until the first cover portion 88 is constrained by the second stop member. The cover 40 remains substantially fixed relative to the axis of the third pivot member 48. In the fully open position, the cover 4 is closed. The second surface 44 faces the space 28' outside the opening of the device, such as a user facing the toilet 25. For example, 5' during the use of the toilet 25, any splash or mess caused by the user I52094.doc 201218994 misdirection Will On the second surface 44, thereby the first surface 42 is kept relatively clean. Or 'for example, the user can hold the grip member 52 at the rear of the cover 40 and lift up in a direction away from the toilet 25. Thus, the cover 40 is rotated about the connection assembly 80 (as previously described for the automatic opening of the cover 40), causing the cover 4 to face the user of the toilet. To manually close the cover 40, the user is in contact. One portion of the cover and applying a force to the device. For example, the user can hold the portion of the cover 40 that is considered to be, and pull downward toward the toilet 25. The first cover portion faces in the path Position 51 slides until first cover portion 88 is constrained by the first brace (4). The user can either guide the cover 40 back to the closed position and release the cover after the cover 40 is partially closed and cause the cover 4 to fall back to the closed position by gravity. Alternatively, the user can hold the rear portion of the cover as it is and push or pull toward the stirrup 25 to cause the cover to connect the assembly 8. Rotate (as previously described for the automatic closing of the cover 4.). The cover assembly 20' 120 may optionally include a lock opening to the first - centering cover _ field cover 40 〇〇 , , . The 〇 member 55 restricts the first cover portion member 4 / from sliding toward the second position 53 . The cover 40 is rotated about the third frame axis :: axis such that the first surface 42 is on the cover 4. Facing space 28 when in the on position. For this purpose, the member 55 no longer limits the first cover: τ two open positions: move. By way of example - (9) 152094.doc 15 201218994 is somewhat flexible so that the force from the first cover portion 88 causes the engagement member 55 to deform sufficiently to allow the first cover portion 88 to slide over the engagement member μ And / month to the first position 53. For example, the engagement member 55 can also be magnetic. During manual operation, the force initially applied by the user to the cover 4 overcomes the restraining force imparted by the engagement member 55 on the first cover portion 88, thereby The first cover portion 88 is disengaged from the locking assembly 50 such that the first cover portion 88 can slide within the path 46. The force transmitted by the driving device % to the first cover portion 88 during the automatic operation is not applied in the direction in which the first cover portion 88 is disengaged from the engaging member 55, and the strength is insufficient. The first cover portion 88 is disengaged from the engagement member 55. In embodiments where path 46 is part of cover 40 (path 46 is disposed on cover 4 or in cover 40), lock assembly 5 is sized and configured to provide a sufficient amount of restraint In order to limit the first cover portion 88 from sliding movement in the path 46 during automatic operation. However, if the cover 40 and the path 46 are constructed such that the center of gravity of the cover 4 is positioned before the path 46 when the cover 4 is in the closed position, the use of the locking assembly 50 is not necessary. After manually opening the cover 40, the cover 40 can also be automatically closed as previously described. Alternatively, after the cover 40 is automatically opened, the cover 4 can be manually closed as previously described.
