A carton for packaging articles, which carton (100) comprises a composite wall (2/10), a beam structure (29) and a reinforcing arrangement (50), wherein the beam structure (29) comprises first (20) and second (24) beam side panels each formed from, and hinged to, an inner panel (10) of the composite wall (2/10) of the carton (100) such that the beam structure (29) is erectable by folding the first (20) and second (24) beam side panels out of a plane of said inner panel (10), and wherein the reinforcing arrangement (50) is formed from an outer panel (2) of the composite wall (2/10), the reinforcing arrangement (50) being disposed in the beam structure (29) such that the reinforcing arrangement (50) extends through an aperture in said inner panel to abut at least one of the beam side panels (20, 24) to prevent the beam side panels (20, 24) from hinging back into the plane of said inner panel (10).
