Description of the Invention: [Technical Field of the Invention] This application claims the benefit of US Patent Application No. 61/2 56,224, filed on Oct. 29, 2009. Break into this case for reference. [Prior Art] A spring loaded hose reel for retractably storing air and fluid hoses is well known. The design requirements of the prior art technique are to maintain the torque on the hub with a wrench when removing and replacing the necessary fasteners. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION A closed hose reel includes a spool and two half-shells that include a bracket. The power spring is contained within the reel. The tension on the power spring is transmitted to the bracket via the shaft, which has a spring loaded ratchet. The ratchet mechanism engages the brackets via the projections that fit into the recesses in the housing. Designing the projections and recesses allows the clockwise rotation to increase the tension of the power spring. The ratchet is spring loaded to allow axial movement of the ratchet to step into a clockwise position below the ratchet. The ratchet has a hexagonal and inner square drive socket that is exposed to the outside. To increase the spring tension, the user simply turns the ratchet in a clockwise direction using a wrench or socket wrench. To increase the spring tension, the user must apply a torque to the wrench or socket wrench, push the ratchet in, then turn the ratchet counterclockwise while allowing the ratchet to move outward to engage the next counterclockwise position. S. -5- 201135098 The present invention is capable of adjusting the hose reel spring with one hand and allowing the hose reel spring to be adjusted in a safer manner. These and other objects and advantages of the present invention will become more fully apparent from the description of the appended claims. [Embodiment] The closed hose reel 10 includes a reel 12 and two half-shells 14 including brackets 16. A power spring 18 is contained within the spool 12. The tension on the force spring 18 is transmitted to the bracket 16 via the shaft 20, which has a spring 30 loading the ratchet 22. The ratchet mechanism 24 engages the bracket 16 via the projections 26 that fit into the recesses 28 in the housing 14. The convex portion 26 and the recess portion 28 are designed such that clockwise rotation increases the tension of the power spring 18. The ratchet 22 is loaded by the spring 30 to allow axial movement of the ratchet 22 to ride into a clockwise position below the ratchet 22. The ratchet 22 has a hexagonal shape 32 exposed to the outside and an inner square drive socket 34. To increase the spring tension, the user simply uses a wrench or socket wrench to simply rotate the ratchet 22 in a clockwise direction. To increase the spring tension, the user must apply a torque to the wrench or socket wrench, push the ratchet 22 in, and then rotate the ratchet 22 counterclockwise while allowing the ratchet 22 to move outwardly to engage the next counterclockwise position.
