Abstract

A method and website server for implementing picture search are disclosed. The method for implementing picture search comprises: in an image database, pre-classifying corresponding images in accordance with object shapes in the images according to keywords, and selecting an sample image for each shape type; after the server receiving an image search request from a user end, the method comprising: in the image database, the server searching for the sample images of a plurality of pre-classified shape types corresponding to the keyword in the search request, and returning the searched sample images of the plurality of shape types to the user end; the server receiving the sample image of a certain shape type selected by the user end, and in the image database, searching for the image which corresponds to the keyword and satisfies a predetermined feature value requirement of the selected sample image; and the server returning the searched image to the user end. By means of utilizing the present invention, the effect that shape types are provided for users for searching images with similar shapes can be achieved, thereby satisfying search requirements of the users.
