Abstract
A revolving ellipsoid air-hole photon-crystal optical fiber is disclosed, which at least comprises a core and a cladding region. The cladding region contains a plurality of revolving ellipsoid air-holes, which are large or small ellipsoid air-holes arranged as regular triangular lattices, wherein the ellipsoid air-hole closest to the center of the photon-crystal optical fiber surroundingly defines the core. The present invention is characterized in that the originally round air holes are transformed into the revolving ellipsoid air-holes by lateral squeezing, and then the structure is expanded into the large or small ellipsoid air-holes having at least four circles and presenting regular arrangement along the y direction and forming the defect at the location of the core by decreasing a small ellipsoid air-hole, so that the light can be propagated in the defect through the total reflection. Thus, by adopting the two-sized ellipsoid air-holes containing dual symmetry, the originally degenerated two orthogonal modes are no longer degenerated, thereby presenting high dual refractive index, which can realize the photon-crystal optical fiber achieving 10 <SP>-2</SP> scale of the high refractive-index difference, which is higher than the general photon-crystal optical fiber of 10 <SP>-3</SP> by an order of magnitude and the traditional optical fiber with 10 <SP>-4</SP> by two orders of magnitude.
