Abstract

A method of reading/writing an optical disc with a plurality of laser beams, wherein the plurality of laser beams comprise a first set of laser beam/beams (a, b), a second set of laser beam//beams (d, e), and a connecting laser beam (c) located between the first set of laser beam/beams and the second set of laser beam/beams, comprises the steps of: - switching on (110) the first set of laser beam//beams and the connecting laser beam to read/write, - switching off (120) the first set of laser beams, if a laser beam of the first set of laser beam/beams arrives at an area previously read/written by the connecting laser beam, - switching on (130) the second set of laser beam /beams to read/write, and - shifting (140) all laser beams to a subsequent reading/writing position, if the connecting laser beam arrives at an area previously read/written by a laser beam of the second set of laser beam /beams.
