Abstract

The invention relates to a nozzle (1) adapted for the transfer of molten metal from an upper vessel to a lower vessel comprising a nozzle body having a gas discharge element and a bore (3) connecting the gas discharge element (2) to a gas inlet (4), the bore (3) defining a gas passageway. According to the invention, the material constituting the gas discharge element (2) is constituted of a material that will not produce carbon monoxide at the temperature of use. Advantageously, the walls of the gas passageway are provided with a layer (5) of a material which will not produce carbon monoxide at the temperature of use. The nozzle of the invention does not contaminate the gas passing therethrough.
