Abstract
A process for (meth)acrylic ester production which comprises: an esterification step in which the dehydrating esterification of (meth)acrylic acid with an alcohol or the transesterification of a (meth)acrylic ester with an alcohol is conducted to obtain a reaction product containing a (meth)acrylic ester; a neutralization/water washing step in which the reaction product is subjected to liquid-liquid separation with a detergent to separate the product into an organic layer containing the (meth)acrylic ester and an aqueous layer containing a water-soluble ingredient; a product purification step in which the (meth)acrylic ester is taken out of the organic layer; a wastewater storage step in which the aqueous layer is stored as wastewater in a wastewater storage tank; and a wastewater treatment step in which the wastewater contained in the wastewater storage tank is subjected to a wastewater treatment. In the process for producing a (meth)acrylic ester, the wastewater contained in the wastewater storage tank is kept having a polymerization inhibitor concentration of 0.005 mass% or higher.
